Personal life
Westlake is married to Jan Loquet Westlake, and the two children have two sons together. Eli was killed in a road rage attack on June 7, 2008, just a few weeks before his 22nd birthday. Missa Solis - Requiem for Eli and dedicating it to Eli was made by Westlake. The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra premiered it at the Myer Music Bowl in February 2011.
