Life and career

Oplev was born in Oue, Denmark. His 1996 film Portland was accepted into the 46th Berlin International Film Festival.

He directed The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, a 2009 Swedish film based on Stieg Larsson's book of the same name, and received critical acclaim around the world. The film set new European box office records, grossing over $100 million US dollars. Oplev decided not to continue directing the second and third parts of the Millennium Trilogy due to time constraints.

Oplev directed the pilot of a 13-episode mini-series based on Stephen King's book Under the Dome for CBS, which was announced on November 30, 2012.

Colin Farrell, Noomi Rapace, Dominic Cooper, and Terrence Howard appeared in Dead Man Down, a 2013 film starring Terrence Howard.

He was supposed to direct The Keep based on the novel's name, and Good People based on Marcus Sakey's book.

Mr. aired on USA Network in 2015, when he appeared on television in the United States. The pilot episode, directed by Robot and Oplev, went on to earn two Emmy nominations.
