Nicklas Bendtner Life

Nicklas Bendtner (Danish pronunciation: [nepentn]; born 16 January 1988) is a Danish professional footballer who competes as a forward. His favorite position was center-forward, but he has also played on the right side of attack, as well as occasionally on the left. He was known for his air ability and a strong header, and was a big, tall, and physically fit player.

Bendtner was signed by Arsenal in 2005, after progressing through the youth ranks at Trnby Boldklub, Kjbenhavns Boldklub, and Arsenal. He made his League Cup debut against Sunderland in October 2005. Bendtner was loaned out to Birmingham City, where he made 48 appearances during the 2006–07 season. Following his return to Arsenal, he became a regular first team player but then fell out of favor during the 2010–11 season. As a result, he went on loan to Sunderland, where he made 30 appearances in 2011-12. He spent the entire 2012-2013 season on loan to Serie A club Juventus, where he made ten appearances but failed to score. Bendtner was released by Arsenal in 2014. He joined VfL Wolfsburg on a free transfer, for whom he scored the winning goal in the 2015 DFL-Supercup. Since being released in 2016, he returned to England, where he spent the first half of the 2016–17 season with Nottingham Forest of the Championship, and in March 2017 he signed for Rosenborg.

Bendtner has competed for Denmark at under-16, under-17, under-21, and senior levels. On August 16, 2006, he made his senior international debut as an 18-year-old against Poland in a friendly match against Poland, scoring his first international goal in that match. Bendtner was a member of Denmark's 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2012 squads, and he helped them qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

Personal life

Bendtner was seen in Hyde Park with former Baroness Caroline Iuel-Brockdorff, a socialite and close friend of the Danish Royal Family, in November 2009. Rory Fleming, first cousin who was officially banned from James Bond writer Ian Fleming, with whom she has two children, divorced in 2008. On a reality television show, the couple met when Iuel-Brockdorff was filming her family's house, Valdemar's Castle. Bendtner was a visitor, and they did a photoshoot together to advertise his presence. Bendtner's son was born at London's Portland Hospital in December 2010. Soon after, the two were divorced.

Bendtner has a fanbase who refers to him as "Lord Bendtner." According to his handler, Se og Hr, a Danish celebrity tabloid, bought him a square foot of land in Scotland in March 2015 to bestow him the name of "Lord." Bendtner has also participated in the prank, posting a photograph of him holding the Ballon d'Or and running as a candidate for Prime Minister in the Danish elections in June 2015. Bendtner was dubbed "Emperor" at Rosenborg during his time as Mushaga Bakenga was still referred to as 'Lord' at the time.

Bendtner was sentenced to 50 days in jail in Denmark for assaulting a taxi driver in November 2018. Bendtner and his counsel resigned on Tuesday, deciding that Bendtner will finish his term in prison or house arrest.

Nicklas Bendtner Career

Club career

Bendtner was born in Copenhagen. He played football for Trnby Boldklub as an infant before joining F.C. In 1998, Copenhagen's feeder club Kjbenhavns Boldklub (KB). Before joining English club Arsenal in August 2004, he scored four goals in six Danish national youth team matches.

Bendtner and Arturo Lupoli formed a fruitful strike partnership in the Arsenal reserves. In a League Cup match against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on October 25, 2005, Arsenal's first-team debut was made. Quincy Owusu-Abeyie was a late replacement for Quincy Owusu-Abeyie.

Bendtner was loaned to Birmingham City in August 2006 to get his first team experience; the loan was not outstanding until January 2007. On August 5th, he made his Birmingham debut as a replacement for Stephen Clemence against Colchester United. He scored the winning goal in the final half-hour. Birmingham's loan was extended until the end of the 2006–07 season. Birmingham were promoted to the Premier League as the runners-up in the Championships with eleven league goals.

Bendtner announced his new five-year contract with Arsenal in May 2007 and returned to the club for the 2007-08 Premier League season. Following his success at Birmingham, the teenage star was given the opportunity to play first-team football elsewhere, with reports that Olympique Lyonnais and Milan wanted the dazzling teen but he didn't stay on in order to keep his spot in the starting eleven.

Bendtner scored his first goal at the Emirates Stadium against Paris Saint-Germain in the inaugural Emirates Cup pre-season tournament; he also assisted Mathieu Flamini and missed a late penalty. On August 12, 2007, he made his Premier League debut against Fulham as a replacement. In a 2–0 League Cup match against Newcastle United on September 25, 2007, his first competitive strike for the Gunners was the match-winning goal. He scored his first UEFA Champions League goal against Slavia Prague in the 89th minute, closing off a back-heeled pass from Emmanuel Eboué to win by 7–0 and equal the record Champions League win.

Bendtner's first Premier League goal was scored at 2–1 Arsenal in the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium on December 22, 2007. After arriving as a replacement for Eboué and smashing the previous record, he headed the winning goal from a Cesc Fàbregas corner in 1.8 seconds (official time). He made his first Premier League appearance at Everton a week later; he was suspended for two countable offences. Arsenal defeated Burnley 2–0 on 6 January 2008 after he was serving his suspension. He scored his first FA Cup goal against Burnley on January 6, 2008.

During the season, Arsène Wenger attempted to accompany Bendtner with Emmanuel Adebayor as long as Robin van Persie was off-season. Bendtner and Adebayor, on the other hand, did not get along well. It was evident during the 2008 League Cup semi-finals away from Tottenham where the pair clashed with the scoreline at 4–1 to Tottenham, and referee Howard Webb, captain William Gallas, and other teammates had to intervene and divide the two teams. Adebayor's website later apologised, but the Football Association declined to take any formal action against either of them.

Bendtner scored a last-minute equalizer against Aston Villa, holding the table's highest ranking position.

In Arsenal's 10–2 win over Burgenland XI on July 29, 2008, Bendtner's 2008–09 pre-season was the highlight of the season. Against Bolton Wanderers, he scored his first Premier League goal of the season and Eboué scored within 90 seconds.

Bendtner had a rough time in October and November, but he defeated Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League on November 25 to guarantee Arsenal moved to the knockout stages. Fàbregas hit the ball forward and Bendtner scored with a left-footed shot after recovery from an injured player, with Dynamo clearly wishing for the ball to be returned to them. He was charged with taking off his shirt in honor of the holiday. In January, he scored two more goals as a replacement, and late winners at home against Bolton and Hull City, both from Van Persie crosses.

Bendtner was beaten by a number of factors in the 1–0 victory over Roma in the Champions League knockout stages on Saturday, on February 24. As Arsenal defeated 3–1, he scored two goals at West Bromwich Albion. When he missed a string of chances against Blackburn Rovers, the fans were much more understanding. Arsenal won 4–0 thanks to Andy Arshavin's stunner and a Eboué brace. Bendtner was awarded 3-1 at Newcastle United, a header from a long free-kick.

The 21-year-old Bendtner was seen leaving a nightclub just hours after Arsenal's 3–1 loss to rival side Manchester United in the Champions League semi-finals, pictured with his belt undone and jeans pulled down. "I may be young, but my activities were a poor error of judgment and something I deeply regret," he later said. Bendtner was a second-half substitute for Arsenal, who lost 4–1 on aggregate to the defending champions United, who were defending champions. In a 4–1 loss to Chelsea in London, Bendtner made amends with a goal, but not a consolation.

Bendtner began the 2009-10 season by announcing a change in his Arsenal squad number from 26 to 52, which he described as "a unique number to [him] personally." He promised to honor those who had already bought a shirt with his initial number. In a 3–2 victory over Standard Liège, he scored his first goal of the season on a collegiate level. He was involved in a car accident while driving along the A1 on the morning of September 27. He suffered knee and shoulder pains, as well as a rash of Aston Martin. In Arsenal's 6–2 victory over Blackburn Rovers on October 4th, he returned to action on October 4th and scored his first league goal of the season. In a 2–1 victory over Liverpool on October 28, he scored the winning goal in the League Cup.

Bendtner underwent surgery in Germany on November 10th after exacerbating a groin injury in the 3–0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on October 31, 2010. He was expected to be out for up to four weeks, but he did not return until January 27 in a 0–0 draw at Villa Park on January 27. He started his game after recovering from his injury and played 82 minutes in Arsenal's 82 minutes over Liverpool on Tuesday to complete his return to full fitness. In a 2–0 home loss to Sunderland, he scored his first league goal since October with the opener. In a 3–1 victory over Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on February 27, he tied this up with the equalizing goal.

Bendtner scored his first hat-trick of his professional career on March 9th in a 5–0 victory over Porto in the second leg of the Champions League first knockout round, overturning their 2–1 loss in the first leg. He scored a stoppage-time winning goal against Hull City, putting the Gunners up on points with Chelsea in the Premier League for the fourth day. In the 1–0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on April 3, there was another stoppage time winner.

Bendtner received the Arsenal Player of the Month award for his March debuts, receiving over 33% of the vote. Arsenal defeated Barcelona 4–1 at the Camp Nou on April 6th, with him scoring the team's only goal in that match.

Bendtner's first game of the season came as a replacement against Birmingham City on October 16th, after exacerbating his groin problem during the 2010 World Cup and spending almost four months out of action. In a 3–0 away victory over Manchester City on October 24, he scored his first goal of the season. Arsenal beat Newcastle United 4–0 after three days as the he scored again in a match against Newcastle United in the League Cup. Bendtner scored his first goal of 2011 against Ipswich Town in the League Cup on January 25th, bringing the total score to 1–1. Arsenal defeated the match 3–0 and 3–1 on aggregate, with a score of 3–1. The goal earned him the Arsenal Goal of the Month award for January. Bendtner scored a hat-trick in the FA Cup fifth round replay against Leyton Orient's League One team on March 2nd. It was his first hat-trick in nearly a year and the first by an Arsenal player in an FA Cup tie since Ian Wright's match against Yeovil Town in 1993.

During negotiations over a transfer, Bendtner was left out of Arsenal's 2011 summer tour of Asia. Bendtner expressed his desire to leave Arsenal in August amid rumors of concern from Stoke City and Borussia Dortmund, as well as expressed desire from Hamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen, citing the desire for first-team football as motivation.

Sunderland's owner Steve Bruce signed Bendtner's one-year loan contract on the last day of August 2011. Bendtner was reported a few days later that he would not play for Arsenal again because he was not allowed to establish himself in the first team after his car accident. On his debut against Chelsea, he had an assist. He scored from 2–0 down to draw with West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, the first goal of which Ahmed Elmohamady equalised. Bendtner was credited with the goal by the Dubious Goals Committee for three weeks, after Gareth McAuley scored into the net.

Bendtner's second goal against Bolton Wanderers was in injury time, but the match ended 2–0, and Sunderland's first away win of the season. In a 3–2 win over Queens Park Rangers, he scored his third time. Bendtner fractured his eye socket against Swansea City on January 21, 2012, and he returned to action on January 21. He converted a penalty in the Tyne-Wear derby on March 4th, bringing Sunderland 1–0 up and the team's 1–0 victory over Liverpool the following week. Sunderland defeated Queens Park Rangers 3-1 in the first round, scoring the first goal with a "unstoppable" header, bringing his total number for March to four from five matches with Sunderland's second goal in a 3–3 draw away from Manchester City. He was named Sunderland's top scorer in Premier League games with eight goals this season.

Bendtner joined Italian Serie A club Juventus on loan for the season, with the option to make the move permanent on the last day of the transfer window. In a 2–0 victory over Chievo at the Juventus Stadium on September 22, he made his debut as a replacement, and his first appearance against Catania came five weeks later. In December, he started playing in the Coppa Italia match against Cagliari, but he sustained a thigh injury that required surgery and was expected to miss at least two months. Though he had been ruled out due to injury, he was still in the middle of the scandal when he was arrested for drink driving on March 4th. Bendtner did not return to action until Juventus' last league match of the season, with the trophy already secured. In the 3–2 loss to Sampdoria on May 18, he fractured his wrist late in the game and came on as a 74th-minute substitute. In eleven appearances in all leagues, he finished his season with only two league starts and without a goal. Juventus decided not to make the loan transfer permanent, and Bendtner returned to Arsenal.

Bendtner was an unused substitute against Stoke City on September 22nd. In a League Cup match against West Bromwich Albion, three days later, he made his first Arsenal appearance for two years. When the match ended 1–1 after extra time, Thomas Eisfeld provided the assist for Thomas Eisfeld's goal. Bendtner made the whole 120 minutes and scored Arsenal's first goal when the team took the shoot-out 4–3. In a 2–0 victory over Hull Cuty on December 4th, he scored his first Arsenal goal since March 2011 with a second-minute header. Bendtner scored his last goal for Arsenal against Cardiff City in the 88th minute, breaking his ankle in the process, before Theo Walcott secured a 2-0 win. Despite wishing to prove himself to Arsenal, this did not happen, and he was released at the end of the season as his deal came to an end.

Bendtner signed a three-year contract with VfL Wolfsburg of the Bundesliga on August 15, 2014. Klaus Allofs, the company's CEO, referred to him as "a striker at the best age" and "who already had a lot of international experience in his work, but not necessarily in a straight line." Bendtner made his Wolfsburg debut against Eintracht Frankfurt as a second-half replacement in a match that ended 2–2. In a 5–1 victory over Krasnodar in the Europa League on Monday, he scored his first two goals for Wolfsburg, one from the penalty-spot and one from open play. Bendtner signed a two-year contract with Nottingham Forest, an English Championship club. Bendtner said he moved to Forest because both sides were desperate for a striker, and Bendtner wanted to move closer to his son in London and help him with his footballing career. Arsène Wenger said he made his debut for the club on September 20th in the 2016–17 EFL Cup against former club Arsenal, after which Arsène Wenger said that "if he stays fit, he has a chance to return to the top level." I believe a hungry Nicklas Bendtner will score goals against anybody, and that is what you want from him."

Bendtner scored an own goal against Forest's Derby County in a 3-2 loss on December 11th.

Bendtner's sophomore season in all competitions ended with two goals. Bendtner said his heart wasn't really into it when he moved to Forest, and that "It wasn't until I arrived in Rosenborg that I discovered myself and discovered the true love of football" that he had discovered.

Copenhagen did not renew his contract, and Bendtner left the club again at the end of 2019. On October 31, 2019, he scored his only goal in a cup match against FC Nordsjland.

Bendtner had signed up for the team, where he will be part of the "M+32 Old Boys" group, which is Trnby FF, whose senior team competes in the fourth-tier Denmark Series. Martin Skov Hstrup, the team's manager, said that Nicklas is "very proud" that he is able to train with some of the guys he has known for many years. "This is an opportunity we've been discussing for many years." He made his team debut on September 9th when he started as an attacking midfielder against the Fredensborg BI M+32 team, which resulted in a 1–0 victory.

Bendtner og Philine, a footballer from football, announced his retirement from football in June 2021. He said, "all your life you play football, and from one day to the next," and then that he had "not been able to do some of the things I loved due to corona." I think I'll have a little longer to process that it's over now."

International career

Bendtner made his international debut in February 2004 with three games for the Denmark under-16 team. He scored a hat-trick against Armenia in his third game. He later played six goals in 15 appearances for the under-17s and was named Danish Under-17 Player of the Year for 2004.

Bendtner made his under-21 debut on May 17th, 2006, at the age of 18, scoring both goals in a Danish 2–0 victory over Spain in a friendly match. He was the youngest player to be called to Denmark's squad for the 2006 European Under-21 Championships, and Morten "Duncan" Rasmussen was the first name to replace him in the Danish starting lineup. Bendtner told the Dutch press afterwards that the change was a mistake and that he was a better striker than Rasmussen. He was given a reprimand, apologized to his coworkers, and kept the starting position for Denmark's remaining group match before they were dropped.

Bendtner made his first senior appearance for Denmark on August 16, 2006; he was the seventh youngest debutant ever, aged 18 years and 212 days. He started the game, a friendly against Poland, and scored in 32 minutes, helping Denmark win by 22-0. He appeared in his country's second senior match against Portugal on September 1st as a replacement. In a 4–2 win over Denmark, he scored the final goal. Despite being able to play for the U21s, Bendtner's senior team was soon to be able to start; he scored two goals in the UEFA Euro 2008 qualifiers; he was also named in a U21s team.

Bendtner scored an 84th-minute goal against Portugal to make the score 1–1; Denmark defeated Denmark 3–2. He scored again in the reverse match against Portugal, which ended 1–1, and four days later, he scored a header against Albania in another 1–1 draw. He was instrumental in Denmark's 1–0 victory over Sweden, which qualified them for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He ended the campaign with three goals. He was named Danish Player of the Year and his effort against Portugal was praised as a Year of the Year, and his goal against Portugal was named as a Winner in the Goal of the Year competition. Coach Morten Olsen selected Bendtner for the World Cup squad. He appeared in all three of Denmark's group games and scored his country's first goal against Cameroon.

Bendtner turned down the opportunity to represent his country in the 2011 European Under-21 Championships because he wanted to "spend some quality time with [his] teenage son." In qualifying for UEFA Euro 2012, he scored two goals for the senior team in a 2–0 victory over Norway on September 6, 2011. He scored a "second-half tap-in" against Portugal on October 11th to ensure that Denmark qualified for Euro 2012 qualification. Bendtner scored against both Sweden and Finland in friendlies in November; in the latter match, he made "a fine counterattacking play to net the winning goal."

Bendtner was selected in the Denmark squad for Euro 2012 by the Danish squad. He is described as "tall and strong, able of being a target guy," a Sports Illustrated preview said, but he also has the technical capabilities to play deeper or on the flank." In Denmark's narrow 3–2 loss to Portugal in the second group match on June 13, he scored twice. Bendtner revealed the logo of bookmakers Paddy Power on the waistband of his underwear, in an instance of ambush marketing for which UEFA barred him from playing in one 2014 World Cup qualifier and fined him €100,000. The fine was paid by the company. In a 1–1 draw with Bulgaria in a World Cup qualifier on October 12, 2012, he scored the equalizing goal and was issued a yellow card after playing against Italy four days later.

The Danish Football Association (DBU) banned Bendtner from consideration for national team selection for six months after Bendtner's detention for drink driving in March 2013. According to their tweet, "The DBU have requested that Nicklas Bendtner have six months off to consider his international future." The DBU recognizes the right of all players to have a private life, but international players must adhere to certain guidelines that must be followed." He scored both of Denmark's goals in a 2–2 draw on his next appearance against Italy, and was black-carded for taking off his shirt in honor of the team's return match against Italy. Bendtner was banned from international football until a friendly against England at Wembley Stadium in March 2014, where he played the first 63 minutes.

In the first round of international call-ups following Bendtner's move to Wolfsburg, Morten Olsen left him out of the Denmark squad for a friendly against Turkey and a Euro 2016 qualifier against Armenia. Denmark came from behind to defeat the United States 32-0 in a friendly at Aarhus in March 2015. He had a hat-trick in March 2015.

He was chosen in Denmark's preliminary 35-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and retained his position when the team was reduced to 27, but he was ruled out of the final 23 due to a groin injury sustained on club service.
