Lil Nas X, Doja Cat, Harry Styles, and More Snag Nominations For the 2022 MTV VMAs

www.popsugar.co.uk, July 27, 2022
The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards nominees have been announced. The network unveiled its lineup of artists this year, with some of their best hits appearing on both the charts and in our music libraries. Lil Nas X, Kendrick Lamar, and Jack Harlow are the top three packers, with seven total nods per day tied, with Harry Styles and Doja Cat trailing behind with six apiece. The artist of the year category is stacked with big names such as Bad Bunny, Drake, Ed Sheeran, and Lizzo, so it's likely to be a contest for whoever snags the title this year. In the meantime, song of the year has some fierce competition, with Adele, Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber, and The Kid Laroi among others, as well as Elton John and Dua Lipa competing for the victory.

Nessa Barrett Picks Her Poison

www.mtv.com, November 4, 2021
With each new launch, the genre-blending actress Nessa Barrett has descended even deeper into her own personal darkness. In the music video for "I Hope Ur Miserable Until Ur Dead," haunting an ex-boyfriend in lingerie and opera-length gloves, appearing in mirrors and watching him as he sleeps, she resembles a lingering curse. The singer's "I Want a Death" is about an acrylic-nailed corpse that is being made up for a lavish funeral by a handsome undertaker. With a chuckle, she says, "I've never felt more confident than when I had dead makeup on." But for 19-year-old Barrett, MTV's Push Artist for November 2021, the journey into those depths has been one of authenticity and self-discovery. For example, the takeaway from the revenge anthem "I Hope Ur Miserable Until Ur Dead" is to be honest with yourself and your deepest feelings, even though it makes others uncomfortable. "I have no wrong in stating that someone has done something to you." "I feel as though I was sick of hearing," the singer says, "I wish they were the best no matter what."
