After ex-PM's party claimed that national elections were 'rigged,' there were riot police discharged tear gas at imprisoned Imran Khan's supporters outside the election rooms in Pakistan, sparking violent confrontations in Pakistan

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 11, 2024
Ugly clashes were recorded in Rawalpindi and Lahore's eastern city, where police are said to have arrested and dispersed protesters after earlier warnings that they will crack down hard on illegal gatherings. Hundreds of supporters of Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf (PTI) party were captured at scores of other demonstrations around the region, the majority of which were held without incident. In Thursday's national election, independent candidates backed by Khan secured the most seats, while the former international cricketer languishing in jail for suspected misconduct and a allegedly unlawful marriage. Independent candidates - the majority of which were linked to the PTI - gained the most seats in the polls, scuppering the chances of the army-backed PML-N to gain a majority. However, independents are unable to form a government and the country is facing weeks of political uncertainty as rival sides negotiate potential alliances. PTI chiefs insist they would have gained even more seats if not for vote rigging.

Imran Khan, a prisoner who has been detained in Pakistan, is credited with winning the majority of seats in the election as a result of the mobile shutdown, with others in the poll marred

The AI version of Imran Khan's message, which is usually sent word through his attorneys, dismissed rival Nawaz Sharif's earlier claim to victory. Despite being barred from voting and being suspended for an unlawful marriage, independent candidates backed by Khan secured the most seats in Thursday's national election on Thursday.

After the faith healer and her ex husband were sentenced to 14 years in jail for selling state property, Imran Kahn's wife, Bushra Bibi, 49, surrenders to authorities before being arrested

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 31, 2024
Both the former Prime Minister of Pakistan and his wife were found guilty of retaining and selling state gifts he received while in office for personal gain. This morning, they were sentenced to 14 years in jail for a ten-day conviction in an appeal relating to selling state secrets. Bushra Khan, also known as Bushra Bibi, was convicted of murder shortly after the verdict in Rawalpindi, near Pakistan's capital Islamabad. According to local reports, she was then taken to Khan's Bani Gala, in Islamabad, where she will serve her term under house arrest after receiving demands from the Punjab and federal governments. Authorities are apparently looking at making the house as'secure and comfortable' as a possibility for Khan's wife. The decision to place Bibi under house arrest rather than in a jail has sparked outrage from opposition groups, who have accused the government of giving preferential treatment to the ex Prime Minister and his wife.
