Nathan Dean Parsons (born 16 June 1988) is an Australian and American actor best known for his role as Ethan Lovett on ABC daytime television.

He appeared on primetime television shows as vampire James Kent on the seventh and final season of HBO drama series True Blood, as well as exiled werewolf Jackson Kenner in The Originals.

He has appeared on Once Upon a Time as Hansel/Jack/Nick Branson and is now playing Max Evans in the CW series Roswell, New Mexico.

Early life and education

Nathan Parsons was born in Adelaide, South Australia, but he was raised in Boulder, Colorado, and Austin, Texas. After being accepted into the University of Southern California's Bachelor of Fine Arts Acting program, he moved to Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California, but he dropped out after three semesters. He is also a member of Boom Kat Dance Theatre, a non-profit dance company headquartered in Santa Monica, California. Following the success of their third production NeverWonderland, Boom Kat has been named a resident company of the Miles Memorial Playhouse in Santa Monica, now in their third year. Parsons likes dancing, rock climbing, hiking, lacrosse, football, soccer, yoga, and scuba diving in his spare time.

He did voice-over work dubbing Japanese anime for ADV Films, including Jean Roque-Raltique's role in Nadia's "Soul Hunter" and "King of Bandits" as a child actor. Parsons has appeared in the films Teeth (2007) and The Brotherhood V: Alumni (2009).

Parsons appeared in a previous role on GM but were not cast, but the series developed a new one for him. Ethan Lovett made his first appearance as a con artist on January 30, 2009. Parsons were initially hired on a regular basis, but soon after, they were put on a long-serving Emmy Award-winning Anthony Geary. During GM's 1980s peak, Parsons' debut storyline explored the mystery of his character Ethan, who was later identified as the son of Luke Spencer (Geary) and Holly Sutton (Emma Samms). Parsons was credited with "taking the show by storm" in March 2009 and dubbed Ethan "one of daytime's most memorable young characters."

Parsons revealed in December 2011 that he had decided not to renew his GE Hospital deal (which had been in effect since early 2012). Anthony Geary and Emma Samms, his on-screen parents, died on March 7, 2012, in a final scene shared with his on-screen parents. The taleline was left open-ended for his eventual return.

Parsons was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in May 2012 for his portrayal of Ethan Lovett on General Hospital. The 2012 Daytime Emmy Awards were broadcast live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, on June 23, 2012. Despite the fact that Parsons did not win in this segment, he was nevertheless well known in the telecast as a host for the highly coveted Outstanding Lead Actor category, in which his former co-stars, Anthony Geary, and Maurice Benard were nominated. Parsons presented the award to Anthony Geary, his former on-screen father (for a record 7th victory), and was recognized in Geary's acceptance address. The Outstanding Drama Series Award was also given to GM.

As part of the show's 50th Anniversary Celebration, Parsons returned to General Hospital in April 2013 as Ethan Lovett. His return to television was broadcast on two days, 2nd, and 3rd. In which he appeared with Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer), Genie Francis (Laura Spencer), and Constance Towers (Helena Cassadine), he appeared with Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer). In July 2015, he reprised his role for two episodes.

Parsons debuted on Bunheads on July 16, 2012, in an episode called "Money for Nothing" that introduced his character of Godot. Though Godot had been well known and adored by the "bunheads," Michelle (Sutton Foster)'s lead character, Michelle (Sutton Foster) had never met him because he just returned from a year-long surfing trip. Michelle and Godot had a brief, but instant rapport, a friendship that was not present until season 1. During the show's first and only season, he appeared in another six episodes.

In the last season of True Blood, Parsons replaced Luke Grimes as James, and Jackson Kenner appeared on The Originals from 2014 to 2018.

Parsons appeared in The CW series Roswell, New Mexico, as Max Evans in March 2018.
