Originally known for the A Bikini A Day blog that she founded with her close friend and business partner Devin Brugman, Natasha went on to launch retail brand MONDAY Swimwear in 2014.
Early life
Oakley was born and grew up in Bronte, New South Wales, Australia. She lived in Miami for three years from age 10 and spent two years in Maui, where she met business partner Brugman in 2009, before relocating to Los Angeles to launch her production company, Datreats Productions.
Personal life
Oakley's mother Lynette received the title Miss Australia in 1980, and went on to win Miss Universe Photogenic. Her father Guy was an Australian surf champion. Oakley says that both her parents are entrepreneurs. She has an older sister called Samantha and a younger half-sister, Sophia, through her mother. In July 2022, she became engaged to Theo Chambers.
Career
Oakley and her business partner Brugman formed A Bikini A Day in 2012 as a lifestyle website that published a snapshot of them enjoying a new swimsuit every day. "We immediately started getting calls about how to be featured on our website," Oakley told the Australian Financial Review. So I drafted up the terms and conditions, and we were still charging $100 a post to be on the site."
Oakley and Brugman's own swimwear company, MONDAY Swimwear, after attracting a large online audience in 2014. New collections are introduced biannually, with a direct-to-consumer e-commerce approach. The brand is known for eschewing logos and seasonal trends, rather than focusing on flattering shapes and presenting healthy rather than overly thin models. The brand later diversified into beachwear, and by the Evening Standard, it was rated one of the top seven US swimwear brands for women. Oakley was ranked by Glamour among the top athleisure clothing designers in the United States in 2017. In addition to designing their clothing lines, the pair also created product collaborations with international brands, including Guess, Missguided UK, BikBok, and Wildfox. They've also collaborated with Tory Burch, Vix Swimwear, and Beach Riot.
Oakley's operations had been valued at more than $63 million, according to Elle magazine, and the 2021 Young Rich List on Australia Financial Review's Young Rich List was published.
