Natalia Lafourcade Career

Career

Lafourcade formed Twist, a pop music group in 1998. Lafourcade, Tabatha Vizuet (former member of the group Jeans), and Ana Pamela Garces (former host of a children's television show on TV Azteca) were among the participants. The company was unsuccessful and it was canceled the next year. Lafourcade has opined that one of the things she disliked about being in Twist, as a result of her search for alternatives, was the fact that she had to lip-sync when performing.

After high school, Lafourcade enrolled in Academia de Msica Fermatta, where she encountered Ximena Sari et alaguerre and Alonso Cortés, who would later be the drummer for La Forquetina.

Loris Ceroni, a guitarist from Lafourcade, listened to the demos and, when she was 17, he gave Lafourcade the opportunity to be in a pop/rock band under his direction. Lafourcade was hesitant, but Ceroni later encouraged her to become independent. Lafourcade released her first album under Sony Music's banner. It was shot in Italy and was cowritten with Aurelio Baqueiro. In a performance called the 'Colegio Lic, she appeared in Dolores Hidalgo's. lvaro de Osio Ocampo,' granting her national recognition around the world.

Lafourcade's debut album, self-titled Natalia Lafourcade, was released in June 2002, a mash-up of pop, rock, bossa-nova, and Latin rhythms. "Busca un Problema," her biggest hit "En el 2000," "Te Quiero Dar," and "Mrame, Mrate were among the singles on the album." During this period, she served as the main contributor to the Mexican film Amar te duele's soundtrack, as well as adding three songs from her first album to the soundtrack: "Busca un Problema," "En el 2000," and "El Destino." León Larregui, "Llevarte a Marte," also performed a duet, and she appeared in "Un Pato" for the film Temporada de patos.

She was nominated for a Latin Grammy in the Best New Artist category for her debut album in 2003, and she was nominated for Rock New Artist at the 16th Lo Nuestro Awards, losing to fellow Mexican singer Alessandra Rosaldo.

Natalia Lafourcade stopped performing as a soloist and formed Alonso Cortés, César Chanona, and Yunuén Viveros, as Natalia y la Forquetina at the end of her first album.

Casa, her second album, was released in 2005, but not as Natalia y La Forquetina, the name of her band. Casa, largely produced by Café Tacuba's Emmanuel del Real, has a more mature, rock-oriented sound while still retaining pop and bossa-nova influences on a few tracks, such as lead single "Ser Humano" (pop-bossa-nova) and its sequel-up "Casa" (pop-bossa-nova). Audu Baqueiro has revived the few tracks that were not produced by del Real.

Lafourcade announced on June 2nd, 2006, after a tour around Mexico and parts of the United States, that she would return to La Forquetina to work as a solo artist. Natalia y la Forquetina's last performance was held in San Luis Potos on August 18, 2006. Casa won the Latin Grammy for Best Rock Album by a Duo or Group with Vocal in September, following the company's breakup.

In the fall of 2007, MTV Tr3s premiered a documentary about the band on the road and their travels.
