Naoto Kataoka (born in Tokorozawa, Saitama) is a Japanese dancer, actor, singer, and creative director, who is best known as NAOTO; born August 30, 1983, she became Tokorozawa, Saitama) is a Japanese dancer, actor, rapper, and creative producer.

He is a member and performer (dancer) of J-Pop dance and vocal group Exile, as well as a dancer) of J-Pop dance and vocal group Sandaime J Soul Brothers.

He was also a member of Nidaime J Soul Brothers before his exile in 2009.

He formed Hip Hop unit HONEST BOYZ® with his friend Nigo and other members in 2016.

Sandaime J Soul Brothers' founders twice been recognized in the Japan Record Awards twice, as well as three times as Exile's representative.

Naoto has appeared in a few television dramas and films, and he has appeared on TBS' most popular Variety show Ningen Kansatsu Variety Monitoring since April 2016.

In addition, he founded STUDIO SEVEN in 2015 and has been working as the brand's creative director since then.

He was named as the head of LDH Apparel, a division of his management firm LDH, in 2017.

Early life

Naoto Kataoka was born in Tokorozawa, Japan, on August 30, 1983. He played baseball in junior high school but stopped doing so after moving to Saitama Prefectural Tokorozawa High School. He considered being a comedian at one time in his youth and formed "Jinsei Honoji-gumi," a comedy group made up of friends.

After enrolling the Dance Club of his school, Naoto began dancing in high school at the age 17. He became interested in starting his dance club in his third year of high school and wanted to do a career as a dancer. After Naoto's graduation, he spent all his time improving his dancing skills, founded JAZZ DRUG, which consisted of two male members (Naoto and Nabe) and one female member (Maiko), and then began to participate in a variety of activities. In 2004, Naoto went to Los Angeles and New York to learn from Andre Fuentes, a well-known choreographer who had choreographed for famous artists, including Britney Spears. Naoto appeared at The Carnival in the United States during his time in the United States.

Personal life

Naoto's mother is an English tutor, and his father was a factory employee. After being influenced by his son, Naoto's father became a famous actor after retirement.

Naoto has been dating popular announcer Ayako Kato for at least a year, according to a post on September 25, 2019. The news was shared by both groups. They broke up in August 2020 after a long period of not being able to see each other due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

After returning to Japan, he performed as a backup dancer for artists such as Ayumi Hamasaki, Ai, Bennie K and Maki Goto, who appeared in both artists' and concerts. He has also performed as a backup dancer at Japanese concerts for western artists, including Ashanti and Missy Elliott.

Naoto formed Scream, a dance quintet, with some of his colleagues in February 2006. U-YEAH, one of the Screamers, received his stage name from Naoto and later became a member of J-Pop group DA PUMP. They appeared at many clubs and festivals in Tokyo and were extremely popular in the underground dance scene.

After the group's producer Hiro decided that they should be a seven-member team, Naoto was invited to join J Soul Brothers, Nidaime J Soul Brothers(The Second Generation of J Soul Brothers). At COLOR LIVE TOUR 2007, Naoto began using NAOTO as his stage name and appeared as a member of Nidaime J Soul Brothers for the first time.

Nidaime J Soul Brothers' first single "WE" was released on May 7, 2008. "The Exile's mobile website was the sole home of Exile's." In addition, Naoto made his acting debut in Gekidan Exile's second film CROWN nemuranai, Yoru no Hate ni...in May. Nidaime J Soul Brothers announced an indefinite hiatus on March 1st 2009 and all members immigrated to Exile, Naoto joined Exile. His first TV drama Genry Boxer started on November 1 and was co-starring Exile's co-mate Kenchi Tachibana. Naoto was a young boxer who adored and searched for delectable food, Susumu Kitaooji. Frenemy Rumble of the Rat, a TV drama co-starring Naoto and Shokichi, has been broadcast on NTV since July. Naoto starred as Wataru Okajima, a childhood friend of Shokichi's character.

Naoto had been one of Fuji TV's Tuesday hosts of the High Noon TV Viking since April 2014. He and Takahiro, one of Exile's vocalists, appeared on the show every two weeks, and Exile's chief, Tomahiro, was scheduled to be the host on Tuesday. In March 2015, Takahiro left the job, and Naoto became the show's first Tuesday host until March 2016. He appeared on the big screen in the movie Sakurasaku, which was released on 5 April 2014.

Naoto appeared in the film "Mango and the Red Wheelchair") in 2015, portraying Shota Igarashi, a rock band's lead singer who couldn't use his legs due to injury, but he had fun singing him in the film. For the first time in film, he lost 7 kilos for his role and showed his vocal skills for the first time. Naoto made his voice actor debut on Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie, starring Osamu Fujimoto, the fictional Japanese Prime Minister played in the film, on June 20th. Since being introduced on April 15, 2016, TV drama Night Hero Naoto began to be broadcast, in which Naoto appeared as himself. Naoto's live performance in Exile/Sandaime J Soul Brothers is a film in which reality and fantasy clash, though he had a part-time job as an underground hero. Other Exile Tribe members appeared as themselves on several occasions. The conclusion of the drama was 12 dances films (one for each episode) that featured Naoto dancing with many world-famous dancers and choreographers, including s**t kingz, Akanen, Riehata, and several Exile Tribe members. Naoto formed the hip-hop crew Honest Boyz with Nigo and became one of their rappers and the leader, utilising the drama. This was the first time Naoto demonstrated his vocal abilities in a group. The unit debuted with the song "PART TIME HERO," which was used as the opening theme of Night Hero Naoto. Since being a regular participant on TBS' popular Variety show Ningen Kansatsu Variety Monitoring since April 2016, he has also appeared on television's famous Variety show Ningen Kansatsu Variety Monitoring.

High&Low The Movie 2 / End of Sky, the third film in the High&Low series, was released on August 19, 2017. Naoto and Honest Boyz made their international debut in 2019 with their single "Electricity starring Lil Uzi Vert," which was chosen as the ending song of Hollywood's live-action film "Pokémon Detective Pikachu." He performed his first digital single OY/YUM YUM on August 7, with the stage name HONEST BOY (in Japanese means honest boy). Sato Yoshito, a freelance writer who embarks on a food journey to discover the flavors of home, appeared alongside Tao Tsuchiya in the film Food Luck. On November 20, the film was released.
