Early life
Nam Joo-hyuk was born in Busan, South Korea, on February 22, 1994. Nam dreamed of being a professional basketball player during his time at Gyeongnam Middle School, but his basketball days came to an end soon after suffering an injury and later undergoing an operation.
He won the Top Model competition, which was sponsored by K-Plus, after heading to Seoul. Nam soon signed a sole deal with the modeling firm.

Nam debuted in 2013 as a model for the SONGZIO Homme 2014 S/S series.
