Early life and career
Lindstrom was raised in Fort Erie, Ontario, near Buffalo, where he grew up in a musical family and played drums as a child. After leaving his drumset at friend Pluto Hann's house, he began making beats at age 17. To promote his music on YouTube, he selected the stage name "Murda Beatz." He came from Chicago and later worked with Chief Keef and Lil Durk when he was 18. Lindstrom claimed to have discovered the majority of his early artists through social media and mutual acquaintances. He eventually joined Atlanta's Migos and began producing their music.
Murda Beatz is known for his work as a lead or featured artist on certain albums he produces, much like DJ Khaled, Mustard, or Mike Will Made It. Instead of being dependent on the artists in the song, he made the decision to change to a "producer-artist," as Billboard puts it. In December 2016, he introduced Keep God First, his first mixtape. In the summer of 2018, he opened G-Eazy's tour. "Shopping Spree," Lil Pump and Sheck Wes' first single as a lead artist, was released in 2019. In March 2020, he debuts his second single, "Banana Split," starring YNW Melly and Lil Durk. By the end of 2020, he hopes to debut his debut album. He revealed the name in March as Murda She Wrote, with an initial release date of June 2020.
Beatz released his own record imprint in 2019 under the name Murda Beatz Recordings, as well as signed artist Adam Halliday.
Beatz was named in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list under the music category in 2021.
