Mr. Oizo, the pseudonym, is best known for his 1999 film "Flat Beat." His pseudonym is a reworking of the French oiseau, which means "bird." He is a member of F Communications, Ed Banger Records, and Brainfeeder.

Mr. Oizo Career

Musical career

In January 1999, Dupieux released "Flat Beat," a track primarily made up of a repeated bass loop and a drum sample from "Put Your Love in My Tender Care" by The Fatback Band. Dupieux said that it took him only two hours with a Korg MS-20 to produce in an interview with XLR8R magazine. Flat Beat became a hit in Europe in 1999, becoming Europe's most popular Mr. Oizo. When riding in an old, beat-up Chevelle, the track was included in a series of Levi's jeans commercials, which featured a yellow puppet named Flat Eric nodding his head to the beat. Flat Eric was also included in the song's music video. The Flat Beat EP has sold over three million copies. In the United Kingdom, the album debuted at number one.

Oizo spent two months on Analog Worms Attack, his first full album since "Flat Beat," which was released in 1999. The album's name was taken from the album's manufacture – it was made entirely using analog equipment. Mr. Oizo's companion Feadz provided the triggering effects. After the five minutes of silence following the final track "Analog Wormz Sequel," "Flat Beat" appeared as a bonus track. There are a total of three singles off this album. On the Flat Beat EP, there is a version of "No Day Massacre" without any recording scratching.

Mr. Oizo's second studio album, Moustache (Half a Scissor), was released in Argentina. The album was released in 2005 and was entirely made of computers as he had by that time decided against using analog equipment. The lengthy wait between Analog Worms Attack and Moustache has been cited as the reason for Analog Worms Attack and Moustache's long absence. A promo CD was launched on the internet ahead of its public unveiling of three songs from the original release: "CPU," "Nazis," and "A Nun."

Certain songs on the promo differ from the album versions. For example, "Nurse Bob" is much longer on the final version, while the promo version cuts vocal samples into a much shorter version. This is his only album not to have its debut on vinyl; it was released through Brainfeeder in January 2011.

"Transexual/ Patrick122," Mr. Oizo's first EP on Ed Banger Records is titled "Transexual / Patrick122." The EP features the track "Patrick122," which is a re-working of Gary's Gang's 1979 disco track "Do It at the Disco." The track appeared on Mr. Oizo's MySpace page in 2006 under the name Patrick122.

MySpace page had another video on October 16th, 2008: a video for his forthcoming album, Lambs Anger. "Positif," the first single off the record, was released three days after Lambs Anger. Pourriture, Oizo's reworked titles, as well as a remix of Err. Misk, became the second single off the album on March 15, 2009.

Lambs Anger is Mr. Oizo's first studio album by Ed Banger Records, the label he chose after his break with F Communications, who ostensibly referred to Moustache (Half a Scissor) as "unlistenable." As the album's singles, "Positif" and "Two Takes It" (featuring Carmen Castro) were selected. "Steroids," the label's mate Uffie, appears in it, also includes a video. "Two Takes It" by Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock's "It Takes Two" by Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock's "It Takes Two" is a part of "Let's Start the Dance" by Hamilton Bohannon, and "Gay Dentists" by Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock's "It Takes Two" is a remix.

In 2006, Mr. Oizo and Uffie first collaborated on her second album, "Ready to Uff," which appeared on her second album. Since then, he has released the following tracks for Uffie: "Dismissed," "Hot Chick," "First Love," "First Love" (which reached number 18 in Belgium), "Steroids" and "MCs Can Kiss" (which have charted at number 18 in Belgium).

Mr. Oizo's debut album, Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans, featured both production and songwriting. He collaborated with Feadz, SebastiAn, Mirwais, J-Mat, and Uffie to produce and write the album. "MCs Can Kiss," his debut on the album, debuted at number 48 in Japan and 97 in France, debuted in France. "Art of Uff," "First Love," "Our Song," and "Neuneu" were among the songs produced by the singer.

Mr. Oizo released The Church, which features ten songs and a single collaboration with Bart B More on the track "Dry Run" in 2014. Unlike his previous albums, this album was released by Brainfeeder due to his appearance in the United States at the time.

On Ed Banger Records, two years later, he released the album All Wet. On the album's "End of the World," Boys Noize, Phra, Siriusmo, Mocky, Peaches, Charli XCX, and Skrillex, the album's lead single.

Filmmaking career

Starting with the 1997 music film "Kirk," Dupieux created a number of music videos and feature films. He does not only directs his films, but more often than not, he is also an author, editor, composer, and cinematographer.

Vincent Belorgey (Kavinsky) and Sébastien Tellier's first film, Nonfilm, was released in 2001.

On June 20, 2007, Dupieux's second feature film Steak was released in France. With an original soundtrack compiled by Dupieux himself, Jonathan Lambert, Vincent Belorgey, and Sebastian Akchoté (SebastiAn), the cast members include Éric Judor, Ramzy Bedia, Jonathan Lambert, Vincent Belorgey, and Sebastian Akchoté (SebastiAn). The film ended up being a box-office bomb, and this is Dupieux's only film that has not been released in the United States. The film was described as a "popular comedy" by StudioCanal, according to Dupieux, the audience was supposed to see a comedy performed by Éric and Ramzy but he was dissatisfied, which was the explanation for the theater's flop. Moot-Moot, an adult animated series created by Éric and Ramzy, was also directed by Dupieux in the opening credits, which were also shown on Canal+ the same year.

In 2009, filming for the absurdist horror film Rubber began. The electronic music pair announced that they would be working on Rubber's soundtrack before starting to film for the new album. However, only Gaspard Augé of the pair collaborated with Dupieux on the soundtrack, only Gaspard Augé of the duo collaborated with Dupieux on the score. The film was also released in the United States through streaming and limited theatrical engagements.

In 2012, the surreal comedy Wrong premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

Realitism Films produced the comedy Wrong Cops, which the authors refer to as "a filthy 90 minute comedies about some troubled cops." It is not a sequel to Wrong." At the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, the first thirteen-minute chapter of the film premiered.

Dupieux released the surreal comedy Reality in 2014, starring Alain Chabat, which was distributed in the United States by IFC Midnight. On the 28th Venice International Film Festival's Horizons section premiered on August 28, 2014.

Keep an Eye Out! For his first film shoot in France in 2018, Keep an Eye Out!

(original title: Au poste!

In theaters, Benoît Poelvoorde and Grégoire Ludig appear. In an interrogation room, a commissaire de police (Poelvoorde) and a criminal (Ludig) are involved in the film's plot. Dupieux was indirectly inspired by the film Le Magnifique, starring Jean-Paul Belmondo, and some newspaper reviews have compared the film to Bertrand Blier's Buffet froid.

Dupieux's latest film: Deerskin (original name: Le daim), starring Jean Dujardin and Adèle Haenel, was released in 2019. At the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, the film was shown as the opening film.

Mandibles (original name: Mandibules), starring David Marsais and Grégoire Ludig, the two main characters of the duo Palmashow, was released in French theaters on May 1921. On the 5th of September 2020, it was screened out of competition at the Venice International Film Festival. Magnolia Pictures acquired distribution rights for the United States following the film's critical success at the Venice International Film Festival.

In 2022, his next film, Incroyable mais vrai, starring Alain Chabat and Anas Demoustier, who respectively appeared in his previous films Reality and Au poste! Léa Drucker and Benoît Magimel are also included in the cast.
