Mousa Dembele Career

Club career

As a youth, Dembélé competed for K. Berchem Sport. He began his professional career with Germinal Beerschot, a Belgian Pro League team. He made his debut against Charleroi on April 24, 2004. Despite apparent apprehension from the Ajax's youth section, Willem II signed him in 2005.

Willem II, Dembélé, spent the 2005–06 season in the Economie. The team had a rough start to the season, but Dembélé had nine points on the team. He attracted more attention from the larger Ecrisie teams after the season, and was then transferred to Arizona in the summer of 2006.

Dembélé, who was one of Louis van Gaal's most important players in 2006-07, was one of the team's most key players. They were supposed to win the tournament but after losing 3–2 to Excelsior, they were forced to finish third. The KNV Beker final was also lost against AFC Ajax. Dembélé scored after two minutes played, but AZ lost 8–7 after a penalty shootout, with Dembélé scoring AZ's fifth penalty attempt. Ajax is also out of the playoff final for qualifying to the Champions League. Dembélé scored six times during the season.

AZ had a rough season from 2007 to 2008. They finished 12th, with Dembélé scoring four times for them. After two losses, the 2008-09 season got off to a disappointing start, but then AZ began to win more games and eventually captured the championship. Dembélé was out of action from October to December due to a knee injury, but he was still on his return as one of the season's top players.

Dembélé had been expected to be "edging closer" to join Birmingham City in English Premier League Birmingham, but Dembélé turned down a move to Birmingham in favour of London club Fulham on August 11, 2010. Dembélé had joined from AZ on a three-year contract for a heft of £5 million, Fulham announced on August 18, 2010.

Dembélé's career was off to a promising start to his time with Fulham. On August 22, 2010, he made his debut against Manchester United as a replacement. On August 25, he scored his second goal against Port Vale in the League Cup for his first start for the club. Dembélé made his first league appearance against Blackpool this week, scoring two assists. Following a good run in the box, Bobby Zamora was a cross to him, while Fulham was denied a draw and a point; Fulham was denied a draw and a point; and the final result was 2–2. Dembélé scored two league goals against Wolverham Wanderers on September 11th, his first league goals for Fulham. He later scored a great solo goal against Tottenham Hotspur, running from the halfway line before firmly launching his shot past goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes. Fulham supporters named this edition as the "goal of the season" by the Fulham fans.

Dembélé scored his third Premier League goal during Fulham's home game against Liverpool on May 9th, but the Cottagers were surprisingly defeated 52-0.

Dembélé, under new manager Martin Jol, was in a more versatile position in central midfield, either next to club captain Danny Murphy or a new signing Mahamadou Diarra. Martin Jol revealed that the club had initiated contract talks with Dembélé in order to fend off interest from other clubs. Dembélé's second goal in 2011-12 in his new more central role, with the first appearing as an 86th-minute goal against Wigan Athletic to seal Fulham's 0–2 victory at the DW Stadium in late October. His second came right at the business end of the season against Sunderland; his goal was the winner in the final 2–1; Phil Bardsley had equalized to make it 1–1 at Craven Cottage, only 30 seconds after it had been 1–1.

After Spurs triggered a £15 million release clause in his Fulham deal, Dembélé joined Tottenham Hotspur on August 29, 2012. In a 1–1 home draw against Norwich City on September 1, he scored on his debut against Norwich City. Spurs' Michael Olympique Lyonnais was kicked out of the UEFA Europa League and qualifying for the last 16 weeks of the competition on February 21.

Despite not being booked by the referee, Dembélé was suspended for six games by the Football Association for an eye gouge on Chelsea's Diego Costa on June 6, 2016. "The normal punishment of three matches that would otherwise apply to this offence was obviously ineffective," the FA said.

Dembélé suffered from a chronic foot injury that forced him to miss a number of games in the 2016-2017 season. Mauricio Pochettino, Tottenham's manager, also described Dembélé as a "genius" in April 2017, one of the best he's worked with, including Diego Maradona and Ronaldinho. "You would have made him one of the top players in the country if we had taken you at 18 or 19 years old," Pochettino said to him. He underwent ankle surgery in May 2017, but he was afraid he'd never be 100% fit again. He suffered his ankle again in the EFL Cup match against Barnsley in September. Nevertheless, he received accolades for his performances as a midfielder later this season.

In early November in the match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, he sustained an ankle ligament injury that would keep him out of the squad for the remainder of the year. This will be his last game for Tottenham Hotspur before being drafted in January after six and a half years with the club. He made 250 appearances for the club, with ten goals scoring.

Tottenham decided a January transfer window to Beijing, China's Top League team, but the contract was delayed due to delays. Rather, Dembélé was expected to join Guangzhou R&F of the Chinese Super League for a reported £11 million. Dembélé joined Guangzhou R&F on January 17th, 2019.

Dembélé, a Guangzhou resident, refused a job extension on February 8, 2022, in order to spend more time with his family.

International career

On May 20, 2006, Dembélé made his first international appearance against Slovakia, replacing Luigi Pieroni as a replacement for Luigi Pieroni. In October 2006, he scored his first international goal against Azerbaijan. Dembélé appeared in the 2008 Summer Olympics, where he put on a spectacular display in Belgium's 3–2 victory over Italy in the quarter-finals, scoring two goals, including the match's defining goal. Belgium advanced to the semi-finals and Brazil in the third place play-offs, losing to Nigeria and Brazil. Dembélé appeared in all six of Belgium's games at the Olympics.

Dembélé was selected in Belgium's squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup on May 13th. He played 65 minutes in midfield before being replaced with Marouane Fellaini in the team's first game of the tournament, a 2–1 victory over Algeria in Belo Horizonte.

After 82 caps for Belgium, Dembélé resigned from international football on March 7th.

In a transfer war, Moises Caicedo offers Man United and Chelsea

www.dailymail.co.uk, June 27, 2023
'For me, he may be one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and Europe.' Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi was charmed by Moises Caicedo's natural charisma, but it didn't take long - just a month in fact. When speaking back in October, Caicedo said, 'He's a top player with and without the ball.' 'There are some players who are naturally gifted with the ball, but not so good in defensive spaces.' 'Others in the defensive space are top, but with the ball, there are some issues,' I don't see anything not at the top level with Caicedo. He has no limit.'
