Morten Tyldum Life

Morten Tyldum (born 19 May 1967) is a Norwegian film producer.

He is best known in Norway for directing Headhunters (2011), a thriller based on a Jo Nesb book, and internationally for directing The Imitation Game (2014), a historical drama for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director (2014), and Passengers, a science fiction film.

Early life

Tyldum was born in Bergen, Norway. He was educated at the School of Visual Arts in New York. He aspired to be a singer but gave up on that aspiration as he entered film school.

Personal life

Tyldum, his wife Janne, and their child lived in Beverly Hills. They also owned a house in Norway. He and his daughter returned to Oslo, Norway, after he divorced his wife and her death by suicide.

Career

In 2003, he made his debut with Buddy, a film that received a lot of attention and critical acclaim. He had worked in television, music videos, advertising, and short films. In 1999, Dagbladet named him Film Talent of the Year.

Since Buddy, he has appeared in the film Fallen Angels in 2008 and Headhunters (Hodejegerne) in 2011. Headhunters is based on Jo Nesb's 2008 book "The Searchers" by the same name. It was the year's best-grossing Norwegian film.

He made his English language debut with the Imitation Game, a historical drama starring Benedict Cumberbatch and mathematician Alan Turing, about his life and career. The Imitation Game went from international success to eight Oscar nominations at the 87th Academy Awards, including Best Picture and a Best Director nomination for Tyldum himself.

He has been adapted to William Gibson's book Pattern Recognition.
