Mohan Babu (born Manchu Bhakthavatsalam on March 19th, 1950) is an Indian film actor, director, and producer best known for his work in Telugu cinema.

Mohan Babu, a Madras Film Institute alumnus, has appeared in more than five hundred feature films, including starring Rajinikanth in a pivotal role.

He was named Best Supporting Actor for his efforts in Yamadonga in 2007.

Mohan Babu was lauded at the University of California, Berkeley, for his contributions to the field of cinema and education.

He is the co-owner of production firms, including Sree Lakshmi Pictures, 24 Frames Factory, and Manchu Entertainment.

He was given the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016 – South.

At the 6th South Indian International Movie Awards in 2017, he received the "Special Appreciation Award" for his completion of "forty years in cinema," as the founder of Sree Vidyan Educational Institutions.

In the Modhugulapalem village near Tirupati, Mohan Babu was born to Manchu Narayanaswamy and Manchu Lakshma. Ranganatha Chowdary, Ramachandra Chowdary, Krishna, and his sister Vijaya joined him as a youth. He attended the S. P. J. N. M High School in Tirupati after completing primary schooling from Yeru village. Mohan Babu, as a child, became interested in theater and began participating in school plays from the age of 14. His father, a headmaster, was keen on his son's academic career. Mohan Babu moved to Chennai and obtained a degree in Physical Education from the YMCA College of Physical Education at this time.

Career

Mohan Babu began his work as a physical education instructor at the YMCA college of physical education for many years. Mohan Babu, who was attracted to the arts as a youth and convinced that the film industry was the place meant for him, began heading to many studios based in Chennai in search of new opportunities. He had the opportunity to work with director Lakshmi Deepak as an apprentice for the first time in 1969, marking his debut in the film industry. He spent many years behind the camera before his desire for acting and expression led him on screen with the 1974 films Kannavari Kalalu and Alluri Seetha Raju as actors.

Mohan Babu was introduced to Dasari Narayana Rao, who was then a script writer in Tollywood, during this period. This is supposed to be his most significant case of his career. With the 1975 film Swargam Narakam, directed by Dasari Narayana Rao, Mohan Babu's first big breakthrough as an actor. Dasari came out as a villain in the film and went on to have a blast. It was after this film that Bakthavatsalam Naidu's birth name was changed to Mohan Babu. After appearing in many films as a comedy villain, he went on to appear in Khaidi, Ketugadu, Gruhapravesham, Assembly Rowdy, Allari modu, and many others. Mohan Babu, a lover of the arts who had been successful in Telugu Cinema, was attracted to Tamil Cinema's happenings. After being introduced to Tamil film by Sivaji Ganesan, he went on to appear in over 20 Tamil films in Mohan Babu's filmography, playing a number of roles to his credit.

Mohan Babu burst out as the best actor of his generation from the late 1970s and early 1980s. He's no different from many of his contemporaries in his first films. It is a well known fact that late veteran director Dasari Narayana Rao noticed something about him and claimed that Mohan Babu had a fire to succeed in his eyes. He was given a negative role in the film Swargam Narakam, in which he played a wealthy boy and Mohan Babu's career took off. He portrayed villain roles alongside Telugu cinema legends such as NTR, ANR, etc. He began to appear in more violent roles, and it was in the 1980s that Mohan Babu's uniqueness came into play. He was known in Tollywood for playing the hero of many films.

With Sivaranjani, a blockbuster hit at the box office in 1978, a change in Mohan Babu's career began. The 'villain' was the movie's heralded, and there were also some of the demeanors. He had an outstanding mentor in the form of Dasari Narayana Rao, who led him in the right direction and gave him the first foundation subtum he needed to do well. Dr. Mohan Babu, 47, now faces prison for ordering a terminal pancreatic cancer patient to take off her top before attacking her. The GP attacked the three women, the youngest of whom was 19 years old, at the hospital where he worked alongside his doctor wife, inappropriately touching them and making 'creepy' remarks. According to a court heard, a receptionist he previously worked with said the doctor of 20 years had grabbed her and boasted that he was 'a lion going to eat her.' Following a three-week trial at Portsmouth Crown Court, Babu was found guilty of four counts of sexual assault against three patients.
