Mohamed Fakaba ”Mo” Bamba (born May 12, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for the National Basketball Association's Orlando Magic (NBA).
He played basketball for the Texas Longhorns in college.

Early life
Bamba was born in Harlem, New York, on May 12, 1998, to Lancine Bamba and Aminata Johnson, who all immigrated from the Ivory Coast. Bamba's grandparents were born and brought up in Mali. Sidiki Johnson, his older brother, played college basketball at Arizona, Providence, and Wabash Valley. Ibrahim Johnson, the defunct brother of his family, played basketball at several universities, including both Farmingdale State and Montevallo. Bamba first became interested in basketball at the age of six, owing to the game's fame in his hometown.
Personal life
Bamba, a rapper from Harlem, was friends with rapper Sheck Wes when he was growing up. Their friendship would later inspire the hit song "Mo Bamba."
High school career
Bamba attended Cardigan Mountain School, an all-boys boarding school in Canaan, New Hampshire, in eighth and ninth grades.
Since graduating from Cardigan, Bamba, moved to Westtown, Pennsylvania, where he studied for Westtown. He averaged 14 points, 11 rebounds, and six blocks per game as a junior. He appeared in the 2017 McDonald's All American Game and the Nike Hoop Summit.
Bamba was rated as a five-star recruit and was ranked as one of the top recruits in his field. Kentucky, Duke, Texas, and Michigan were his final four universities. In the end, Bamba decided to play for the University of Texas for his college years. Ibrahim Johnson, his half-brother, uploaded a 22-minute video on Facebook Live detailing how there were some illicit gains from a Michigan-based investor involved in the decision making and that he was not relaying the details to the NCAA. However, the NCAA reported that nothing connected there will ultimately affect Bamba's eligibility for his freshman season.
College career
In a blowout victory that night, Bamba made his official college debut against Northwestern State on November 10, 2017, scoring 15 points and 8 rebounds. In a blowout victory over Lipscomb eight days later, he scored 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 blocks. In a loss to Kansas on December 30, Bamba recorded a season-high 22 points, 15 rebounds, and 8 blocks. In a 74-70 overtime victory over Iowa State, Bamba will post a season-high 16 rebounds with ten points on New Year's Day 2018. In an 85-72 victory over Ole Miss on January 27, 2018, five days after registering his previous high of 24 points in a victory over Iowa State, he would set a new career record in points scored with 15 rebounds. In a 77-66 victory over #23 ranked Oklahoma, five days after tying his previous career-high of 16 rebounds with 16 points in a close 74–73 double overtime loss to Baylor, Bamba would post a new career high of 18 rebounds with ten points scored. At the end of the regular season for Texas, Bamba was named as a member of the Big 12's All-Newcomer Team and All-Defensive Team, as well as a member of the All-Big 12 Second Team. He had 12.9 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game.
Following Texas' loss in the 2018 NCAA men's basketball tournament to Nevada, Bamba announced his intention to postpone his final three seasons of collegiate service and declare for the 2018 NBA draft, where he was projected to be a lottery pick.
Professional career
Bamba was a 7 ft 10 in (2.39 m) wingspan at the 2018 NBA Combine, breaking the record held by current Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert. Bamba reportedly ran faster than most of the NBA, including MVP Russell Westbrook, after a 3.04 3/4 court sprint. Before the draft, Bamba refused to serve out with the Memphis Grizzlies, and told them not to draft him.
In the 2018 NBA draft, Bamba was selected with the sixth overall pick by the Orlando Magic on June 21, 2018. Bamba officially agreed to a rookie scale deal with the Magic on July 3, 2018. In a 104–101 victory over the Miami Heat, he made his professional debut on October 17, 2018, recording 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks off the bench.
In a 119–112 victory over the Detroit Pistons on May 3, 2021, Bamba scored 22 points and grabbed a then-career high 15 rebounds in 29 minutes off the bench.
During a 110-109 loss to the Toronto Raptors on October 29, 2021, Bamba scored 14 points and had a career-high 18 rebounds. In a 123-110 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on January 19, 2022, Bamba scored a career-high 32 points on seven three-pointers.
