Mitchell Lee Hedberg (February 24, 1968 – March 29, 2005) was an American stand-up comedian known for his humour and deadpan delivery.
Hedberg's comedic act gained him a following, with audience members sometimes yelling out the punchlines to his jokes before he could finish them.
In 2005, he died as a result of a cocaine and opium overdose.
Early life
Hedberg, born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the son of Mary (née Schimscha; 1943–2012) and Arne Hedberg. He was of Finnish-Swedish (from his paternal grandparents), Czech, and German descent. Hedberg attended Saint Paul's Harding High School. He expressed no interest in school and claimed that he was barely eligible to graduate.

Hedberg was married to Canadian comedian Lynn Shawcroft from 1999 to his death in 2005.
Hedberg was a regular recreational drug user, even mentioning it in some of his parphrasedoutputs (e.g., "I used to do drugs"). I still do, but I used to do so too." Hedberg began his stand-up comedy in Florida, and after a time of honing his craft, he moved to Seattle and began to tour. He appeared on MTV's Comikaze shortly, followed by his appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman in 1996, which gave him his big break. At the Seattle Comedy Competition in 1997, he claimed grand prize number 57. He appeared in an episode of Fox's "That '70s Show" last year.
He directed, produced, and starred in Los Enchiladas!, his own independent film venture, which he wrote, produced, produced, and starred in. He released three comedy albums: Strategic Grill Locations, Mitch All Together, and Do You Believe in Gosh, the last comedy album to be released posthumously. In 1998, 2001, and 2004, he appeared at the Montreal Just for Laughs comedy festival.
Hedberg, who rose to fame in the entertainment industry, appeared on Letterman nine times, and Time magazine described him as "the next Seinfeld." George Carlin, Dave Chappelle, Mike Birbiglia, Norm MacDonald, and Lewis Black were among his comedian fans.
