Dmitri "Misha" Collins (born Dmitri Tippens Krushnic; August 20, 1974) is an American actor and writer best known for his role as the angel Castiel on the CW television series Supernatural (2008–2009).

Early life

Misha Collins was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to Richard Krushnic and Rebecca Tippens. He was born in an irreligious family. His family was poor and often homeless as a child, and they were often homeless. His surname, Krushnic, "goes back six generations in Canada, and we're not sure where they came from." Collins is his great-grandmother's maiden name. He is of partial Jewish descent.

Collins studied sociology at Greenfield Center School, Northfield Mount Hermon School, and the University of Chicago, where he concentrated on social psychology.

Personal life

Collins married Victoria Vantoch in Maine on October 6, 2001. They have a son, West Anaximander Collins (born September 23, 2010), and a daughter, Maison Marie Collins (born September 25, 2012).

Collins declared straight after a fan convention appearance prompted news that he had come out bisexual.

He interned for four months at the White House during the Clinton Administration in the Office of Presidential Personnel before starting to serve.

His film career includes an uncredited appearance in the 1999 film Liberty Heights, as well as roles in Girl, Interrupted; Finding Home; Karla; and Loot (on which he also served as Associate Producer).

On the CW television show Supernatural from 2008-2020, he appeared as the angel Castiel. Legacy, Charmed, NYPD Blue, 24, ER, Monk, and Timeless are among the television series on Supernatural's. As well as his work on Supernatural, there are also other television shows on television including Legacy, Charmed, NYPD Blue, 24, and Timeless.

He has appeared on several podcasts. He has made several guest appearances. In 2018, he appeared in podcasts as Adler Harrison in Vox Populi's The Angel of Vine. He starred Jeremy Bradshaw in 2021 as the main character on Grim & Mild's Bridgewater film.

On PBS, he hosted Roadfood: Discovering America One Dish At a Time, a TV show focusing on local foods in America.

In 2022, he appeared on the CW as Harvey Dent/Two Face in the forthcoming Gotham Knights show.

Collins is a well-known poet. In the 2008 edition of Columbia Poetry Review #21, his poems, "Baby Pants" and "Old Bones," can be found.

Collins and his partner, Vicki Collins, have also co-written The Adventurous Eaters Club. According to reports, a significant portion of the book's proceeds will go to charitable groups that specialize in food nutrition.

"The 2D Shape Structure Dataset" is an academic research paper that examines a crowd-sourced database on shape formations, by Collins and Kathryn Leonard, as well as several other collaborators.

Some Things I Can't Tell You, Collins' poetry book, was published on October 12, 2021, and it is a complete collection of poems at 144 pages. It made it to the New York Times bestseller list.
