Amelia Fiona "Minnie" Driver (born 31 January 1970) is an English actress and singer-songwriter. In Gus Van Sant's Good Will Hunting (1997), she was also nominated for an Emmy Award (2007) and a Golden Globe Award (2008) for her role as Maggie Royal in Return to Zero (2015).
She has been nominated for the London Film Critics Circle Award as British Supporter of the Year on five occasions so far, including in 1996, Good Will Hunting (1997), which she won, and Barney's Version (2010). Early life and education
Amelia Fiona Driver was born in London and raised in Barbados until she was six years old. Minnie was given the name by her older sister Kate in childhood.
Gaynor Churchward (née Millington) (1937–2021) was a fabric designer and former couture model. Charles Ronald Driver (1921-2009), her father, was born in Swansea, Wales, and was of English and Scottish descent. He received the Distinguished Flying Award for his participation in the Battle of Heligoland Bight and was a director of London United Investments.
As her father was married to another woman throughout his relationship with Minnie's mother, she never married. Minnie's parents separated early in life when she was six years old. She was sent as a boarder to Bedales School in Hampshire shortly after. She later attended Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art and Collingham College, an independent college in Kensington, Central London. Kate, Minnie's older sister, is a film producer and manager. Susan Driver, her older half-sister from her father's previous marriage, as well as two younger half-brothers: Charlie Driver, a football agent from Ronald's subsequent marriage, and Ed Churchward from her mother's subsequent one.
Personal life
Since joining Addison O'Dea in 2019, the driver has been involved with the company. In 2001, she was briefly engaged to Josh Brolin. Henry (born 5 September 2008) is her son, and she has a short friendship with television writer and producer Timothy J. Lea.
In 2016, Driver admitted that she was sexually assaulted while on holiday in Greece at age 17.

Career
In 1991, the driver's television debut was in a Right Guard deodorant commercial. In 1991, the driver made her debut on stage, supplementing her income by appearing as a jazz vocalist and guitarist. She appeared in an episode of Maigret in 1993 with Michael Gambon and Michael Sheen. She appeared in The Day Today, on British television, alongside comedian Steve Coogan and satirist Armando Iannucci, and appeared in Casualty, The House of Eliott, Lovejoy, and Peak Practice.
When she appeared in a leading role in Circle of Friends in 1995, opposite Chris O'Donnell, the driver attracted greater public attention. In the 1997 film Titanic, the driver was supposed to play Rose DeWitt Butaker but director James Cameron decided she was too old, so Kate Winslet was cast instead.

In the 1999 English-dubbed release of the Japanese film Princess Mononoke, the driver has appeared in multiple animated films, including Jane in Disney's 1999 version of Tarzan and Lady Eboshi. In 2007, and 2008, she was nominated for an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award as Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
