Michael James Vogel (born July 17, 1979) is an American actor and former model.

Vogel began acting in 2001 and has appeared in many films and series, including The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Grind, Poseidon, Blue Valentine, The Help, Bates Motel, Cloverfield, and The Case for Christ.

In the 2017–18 season, he appeared as the male lead in the NBC military drama series The Brave.

Personal life

In January 2003, Vogel married Courtney, a former model. They have three children: Cassy Renee (b.) Charlee Bea (b. 20 February 2007) Charlee Bea (b. Gabriel James (b. ), and Gabriel James (b. ), June 2, 2009. (September 25, 2013). They live in Nashville, Tennessee.

Early life and career

Vogel was born in Abington Township, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia, and Jim Vogel was raised in Warminster Township, Pennsylvania. He is of German descent. Both of his grandfathers served in World War II; one was a tank commander who fought in the Battle of the Bulge, the other was a Seabee in the Navy. Vogel has two younger siblings, Daniel Aaron, and Kristin. He attended William Tennent High School, where he was on the freshman wrestling team.

In 1998, he attended Cairn University in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. He travelled to New York City in the early 2000s to audition for acting and modeling positions.

Career

Vogel began modeling jeans for Levi Strauss & Company, which is legendary. He appeared in the television series Grounded for Life from 2001 to 2004.

He appeared in the skateboarding-themed Grind, which was announced on August 15, 2003. Adam Brody and Jennifer Morrison were among the film's co-stars. Vogel's next role was in the made-for-television version of Wuthering Heights, which premiered on MTV in September 2003. Vogel portrayed Heath in the film opposite Erika Christensen's Kate in Heath. Vogel's last 2003 appearance was in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which was announced in October and had a high box office success.

Vogel appeared in four film roles in 2005, five years after Grounded for Life was cancelled. He played Eric Richman, the romantic interest of Blake Lively's character in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, which had a June publication. His next role was as the lead in the low-budget film, Supercross, which was theatrically released in August. Vogel filmed his role in Havoc, a dark, R-rated drama starring Anne Hathaway, in 2003, but the film was not released until November 2005. It was a hit theater and was brought straight-to-video. In 2005, Vogel appeared in Rumor Has It..., starring Jennifer Aniston, in which he played a supporting role as the son of Kevin Costner's character.

Vogel's first appearance in the disaster film Poseidon, a remake of the 1972 film The Poseidon Adventure, was filmed in 2006; he plays Emmy Rossum's fiancé. On May 12, the film, which had a budget of $160 million, opened on May 12 and brought in $181,674,817 at the international box office. Vogel had intended to appear in Poseidon but had to cancel to be able to appear in Poseidon. He appeared in Caffeine, a romantic comedy, and he was cast in Open Graves, a Spanish horror film.

Vogel appeared in the film The Deaths of Ian Stone in 2007, as part of the horror film festival 8 Films to Die For. Vogel appeared in Across the Hall and the horror film Open Graves in 2009. He was part of She's Out of My League, Blue Valentine, television series Miami Medical, and Heaven's Rain, a romantic comedy film from 2010.

What's Your Number? Vogel appeared in the 2011 comedy film What's Your Number? Johnny Foote appears in the film adaptation The Help. He played Dean on the short-lived ABC drama Pan Am (based on the history of the defunct airline of the same name).

He appeared in Howard Goldberg's comedy Jake Squared, in which he competes against Elias Koteas, Virginia Madsen, and Jane Seymour. He appeared in McCanick and the first six episodes of Bates Motel. This was A&E's latest prequel to the 1959 book Psycho.

Vogel appeared in In My Dreams, the Hallmark Hall of Fame's romantic TV film in which he appeared alongside Katharine McPhee and JoBeth Williams, among others. In the same year, he appeared in the drama The Boy, which told the tale of a 9-year-old sociopath who was played by Jared Breeze.

Vogel appeared in the miniseries Childhood's Conclusion, based on Arthur C. Clarke's book "of the same name."

The Brave was NBC's first season on September 25, 2017. For special, difficult missions, a small group of hardcore intelligence agents from various branches of the service is selected. Capt. Vogel's character is one of the leads in this film. Adam Dalton, the team's communications manager and a former Delta Force field employee, is the team's communications chief and a former Delta Force operative. He addresses the character played by series lead Anne Heche. After one season, the series was cancelled.

In December 2018, it was announced that Vogel will appear in the Netflix psychological thriller Secret Obsession. The film was released on July 18, 2019.

In February 2019, Vogel was the lead role of David Roman in ABC science-fiction pilot Triangle, which was written by Jon Feldman and Sonny Postiglione. In September 2019, ABC decided on the scheme.

Vogel would appear in Sex/Life, a forthcoming Netflix series, in March 2020.
