Michael Grzesiek (born June 2, 1994), more commonly known as Shroud (formerly mEclipse), is a Canadian streamer and ex-professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) player.
He is best known for his appearances at PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Call of Duty Black Ops 4: Blackout, Rainbow Six Siege, and more recently Apex Legends, Minecraft, Battalion 1944, and the World Warcraft Classics.
Early life
Grzesiek was born in Toronto, Ontario, on June 2, 1994, and is of Polish descent.
Career
Grzesiek began his Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) career with several ESEA clubs, including Exertus eSports and Manajuma. He was soon signed by compLexity Gaming as a stand-in and then by Cloud9 in August 2014, when they first obtained compLexity's roster. In 2016, he led Cloud9 to a first-place finish at ESL Pro League Season 4 in 2016. In 2017, he stepped down from the starting lineup to Cloud9's full-time streaming.
Grzesiek officially resigned from professional CS:GO on April 18, 2018.
Grzesiek reached 100,000 Twitch followers on the second day, the second most popular — TimTheTatman — on March 10, 2019. He continued to stream full-time on Twitch until October 2019, when he announced his transition from Twitch to Microsoft streaming platform Mixer. Following Tyler "Ninja" Blevins' footsteps, he will be broadcasting on Mixer exclusively.
On June 22, 2020, Microsoft announced that it would no longer be able to support Mixer but rather partner with Facebook Gaming. Grzesiek was accused of receiving a Facebook bid that would have more funds than Mixer's. Grzesiek turned down the offer and was paid the remainder of the old contract.
Grzesiek announced on August 11, 2020, that he will return to Twitch exclusively. His first stream back on the following day at over 56,000 viewers.
Grzesiek signed with Sentinels as a player for their Valorant team on July 8, 2022.
