Mick Jones Life

Michael Geoffrey Jones, (born June 25, 1955), is a British musician, singer, and songwriter best known as the lead guitarist, co-lead vocalist, co-founder, and songwriter for The Clash until 1983.

Don Letts and Big Audio Dynamite formed Big Audio Dynamite in 1984.

Since 2002, Jones has performed with Carbon/Silicon alongside Tony James and has toured the globe as part of the Gorillaz live band.

Jones formed the Justice Tonight Band in late 2011, after collaborating with Pete Wylie and others of the Farm.

Early life

Michael Geoffrey Jones was born in Wandsworth, England, to Tommy Jones, a Welsh father, and Renee Zegansky, a Russian Jewish mother. Stella Jones' maternal grandmother was born in 1899 to Jewish parents in Russia and later fled the Russian pogroms by migrating to the United Kingdom. Stella Class, his maternal grandmother, spent the majority of his childhood in South London. Grant Shapps, the Conservative MP for Welwyn Hatfield, is Jones' cousin. Jones went to Strand School in South London and West London School of Art And Design because "[he] believed that's how you get into bands and stuff."

With his glam rock band, the Delinquents, he began to gain fame in the early 1970s. He met Tony James a short time later and founded the Protopunk London SS. By 1976, the band had disbanded, and remaining members Jones, Paul Simonon, and Keith Levene were looking for a new direction.

The new Primrose Hill set: From Moss to Law and Richards... the famous names are out to party. But this time it's the children!

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 13, 2024
One chain has achieved the next best thing by signing up the children of the notorious Nineties north London party group to promote its latest collection. The group of ' nepo babies ' - as such offspring of famous people are now known - included Kate Moss's model daughter Lila; Liam Gallagher's son Lennon and his cousin Anais Gallagher, daughter of Noel; Jude Law's children Rafferty and Iris Law; Keith Richards 's granddaughter Ella; and Clash guitarist Mick Jones's daughters Ava and Stella. And they proved to be just as raucous and glamorous as their parents as they partied into the early hours in the VIP section of a gig by Charli XCX in east London which started at 10.30pm on Thursday.

Their parents were the party people of the Nineties. And it seems there's now a new Primrose Hill set as the offspring of famous rockers and fashion models alike banded together at the H&M x Charlie XCX London Fashion Week bash on Thursday.  Kate Moss' daughter Lila, looked to be having the time of her life as she stopped to take a series of selfies in the back of a taxi with Stella and Ava Jones, whose father is The Clash star Mick Jones.

Town society refuses to honour infamous gig by The Clash nearly 50 years ago with a blue plaque because it caused too much trouble

www.dailymail.co.uk, July 14, 2024
A town's society has refused to honour an infamous punk gig by The Clash with an iconic blue plaque because the music event caused too much trouble at the time. The Bury Society's 580 members say it will not support calls for the band's 1978 concert at the The Corn Exchange in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk to be honoured. The infamous concert was part of the band's 'On Parole' tour and led to accusations of punks causing 'mayhem' with damage to property, spitting, and drunkenness. It also led to certain types of live music being banned in public buildings for two decades. Now there are calls for the gig to be commemorated as a part of the town's history with a blue plaque in the Corn Exchange which has been a Wetherspoons since 2012.
