Michaela Evelyn Ann Strachan (born 7 April 1966) is an English television presenter.
Early life
Strachan grew up in Hinchley Wood and attended Chadsworth Stage School, then Claremont Fan Court School, both in Esher. She suffered from anorexia in her teens. Later, when she was living in London, she briefly worked as an Avon lady and as a kissogram. Strachan appeared in theatre for a few years before moving to children's television.
She appeared in the musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at the Grand Theatre in Blackpool in 1984.
Personal life
In 1996, Strachan married filmmaker Duncan Chard, but the pair divorced five years later. She gave birth to her son Oliver by partner Nick Chevallier on June 8, 2005. With Chevallier's children, the two families reside in Hout Bay, Cape Town.
She is a celebrity endorser of the charity World Vision as a child sponsor. She also supports the Alternative Gifts charity; life-changing gifts for communities in the developing world.
She is allergic to elephants.

Career
Strachan appeared on Saturday-morning television in the 1980s, being involved in programmes such as Good Morning Britain and Wide Awake Club with Timmy Mallett. Boogie Box first appeared on the music channel in 1988. Music Box was created by Caroline Jones. Strachan appeared on "Her" in the nightclub-set music program The Hitman and Her starring Pete Waterman from 1988 to 1992. Strachan appeared on BBC1 in 1993 as part of The Really Wild Show, a children's wildlife program.
She served as a regular reporter for BBC One's Countryfile for many years before the program underwent a primetime Sunday evening relaunch in April 2009. Her move to South Africa prevented her from fully committed to the new show. Strachan began competing in the World Gurning Championship at Egremont Crab Fair in 2002 while filming an article for Countryfile. To her surprise, she received the Ladies' World Gurning Crown.
Strachan co-presented two series of Orangutan Diaries with Steve Leonard for BBC One. These pictures followed daily life on a reserve for orphaned orangutans in Borneo, as well as Lone Drough Nielsen and her team's efforts in saving and rehabilitating the orangutans. They were broadcast in 2006 and 2008. Lone Dr. Nielsen, the animal's favorite, "works under incredibly challenging circumstances and displays an all-consuming dedication to them," she told The Independent.
On the Eden channel, she hosted the six-part series The Great Penguin Rescue in November 2013.
