Michael Wong Kong Leong (Chinese: Wáng, Jethrong; Peg-ja-j: Wáng Giàng; The name Guang Liang; Born 30 August 1970, he's a Malaysian Chinese singer and composer who has performed and written numerous love-themed ballads and love songs, several of which have a huge following. Wong began his singing career with Victor Wong in a duo. The two had achieved a lot of success in Taiwan but in a mutual deal, the two were parted in 2000. Since then, Wong has released five solo albums, the third one being his debut album, Fairy Tale. He has had a great success in Taiwan, mainland China, Hong Kong, and Malaysia, where he is based. Michael Wong Career

Solo career

Not long after the announcement, Wong continued to produce and write new songs for his latest solo album, Michael's First Album (Dragon Chuàng Zu Zhuj), which performed above expectations. Despite the fact that Wong's company right away decided that he should make his first solo album on his own, he did not consent straight away. This is because he was not positive that he was strong enough to produce one complete album by himself. However, after much reflection, Wong accepted the challenge and was eventually successful in breaking away from the Michael & Victor mould. Wong spent time on his own album but also co-produce other singers' albums, such as Rene Liu and Fish Leong.

In November 2002, Wong released his second album, Ray of Light (Guang Máng). It then became Taiwan's most popular chart.

Fans of Wong's solo albums had to wait another two years before the artist, Fairy Tale (Tong Hua), was released. "Fairy Tale" is Wong's first single from his album, and was composed by him. About 30 lyricists were asked by Wong, who is more of a composer and barely wrote lyrics for this particular song. After putting a finishing touch to the song with lyrics he wrote himself, he then left it to be arranged and produced by Taichi Nakamura (producer). After rejecting the first few songs with his sense of perfection, Wong eventually re-selected some songs himself and rooted for his ten favorite songs to be cut into the collection, six of which were co-written by himself. His two years of hard work paid off right away when this album debuted; it is widely known to be Wong's best-selling record to date.

"Fairy Tale" has been his best single by far, shooting up to No. 1 in No. 4. 1 immediately after it was announced in January 2005, bringing it to the top of the download counter Baidu 500 for 15 weeks as Asia was swept by the "Fairy Tale Tornado." The single is arguably the most popular Chinese language song of the 21st century. It is currently ranked in the top karaoke charts as of 2012.

Michael Wong's deal with Rock Records came to an end in December 2004, but he continued to promote for the album Fairy Tale, which was released in January 2005. After the promotion period ended, Wong made the best decision in his singing career by announcing his separation from his longtime record label, Rock Records, in July 2005. Wong has officially signed to Amusic after ten years being contracted with Rock Records. Rock Records' explanation for his departure from Rock Records was because his music was so straightforward, it wasn't music. Hence, they dismissed him. Someone on television had argued that Wong's music was not music due to its simplicity, causing the singer's delirium. Wong's tumultuous relationship with Rock Records has influenced his decision to leave for Amusic. When asked for responses, Wong remarked firmly that he thanked Rock Records for giving him his big break.

In addition to his fame and success in the music industry, Wong also happens to be a decent actor. Richie Ren, a Taiwanese singer, Ah Niu, and popular Cantonese singer/actress Sammi Cheng made his debut in the big screen version of Summer Holiday in year 2000. In addition,, Wong appeared in many television drama series in Taiwan, such as White Romance (starring Karena Lam), Wintry Night 2 where he speaks his native dialect Hakka, and others. In addition,, Wong performed a dramatic role in Taiwanese director Su Chaopin's debut comedy film, BTS. In addition to films and drama, Wong appeared in a musical stage drama in Taiwan, Mr. Wing, in August 2005.

He has recorded his fourth album, Yue Ding / Commitment), which has sold 1.5 million copies in less than a month. This is the finest collection of several of his earlier works. On this album, there will be a total of about 17 songs. "Commitment"), Dou Shi Ni / "It's You"), and "Embrace Me" are three self-penned new songs on this new album. The remainder of the album will be filled with songs he wrote for other musicians, including [[Wo Deng Ni / "Courage")-original singer Rene Leong]] ["I'm Waiting For You]-original singer: Fish Leong]] and "Love" (Lian / "Love")" (Lian / "Love")" (Lian / "Love") (original singer: Angelica Lee)]. He also included the songs he wrote and performed while he was still a member of Michael and Victor.

Given the overwhelming success of "Tong Hua," several commentators have expressed their displeasure with the fact that "Tong Hua" will only be Wong's one-hit wonder. His analysts were proved wrong by the sales of his fourth album, Yue Ding, which brought more than a million copies in a month's time. Wong's fanbase has expanded greatly and has gained a large following around the world. Countless awards have been given to him by Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, and Malaysia for his career as a singer and songwriter.
