Michael Park Life

Michael Frank Park (born July 20, 1968) is an American actor best known for his role on As the World Turns (1997-2010).

In 2010, and 2011, Park received the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for the second time.

Michael has appeared in three Broadway musicals: Michael in Smokey Joe's Cafe (1995), Angus Tuck in Tuck Everlasting (2016), and Larry Murphy in Dear Evan Hansen (2016), as well as Monty in the Off-Broadway production of Violet (1997).

Park received both a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album and a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Musical Performance in a Daytime Program in 2018. In the third season of Netflix's critically acclaimed Stranger Things, Park played snooty reporter Tom Holloway.

Park was born in Canandaia, New York, but he spent a year of his life in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Personal life

Since January 6, 1996, Park has been married to music therapist Laurie Nowak. They have three children.

Career

Park attended Nazareth College, Rochester, New York, intending to become an architect before deciding to become an actor. He appeared at the Geva Theatre in Rochester, 1992, at the New Plays Festival. He appeared in regional productions, including Ellen Universe Joins The Band and Peephole.

Park appeared in the musical Hello Again at Lincoln Center Theater in 1994. Park appeared in the Goodspeed Opera House production of Shenandoah in August 1994, and Good News at the North Shore Music Theatre (1994). Billy Bigelow, who was understudying Billy Bigelow in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel in 1994, made his Broadway debut in 1995 in Smokey Joe's Cafe. Park appeared Monty in the Playwrights Horizons production of Violet in 1997.

Park's first day in the long-running daytime soap opera As the World Turns as Jack Snyder, which began in April 1997. Park has received three Emmy nominations and several other soap-opera acting awards, including the Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2010.

He continued to work in theatre during his 13-year tenure in As the World Turns, including playing Lucky Malone in the Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of Little Me (1998). He made two New York City Center Encores! Portraits include: Jeff Calhoun, 2001 as Jeff Calhoun, and Applause in 2008 as Bill Sampson.

Park returned to the stage in June 2010 as the World Turns came to an end, as the narrator's three "Alamo" characters in the coming-of-age musical The Burnt Part Boys at Playwrights Horizon appeared to Pete's ghost father. In the summer of 2010, he appeared as Lord Capulet in the Williamstown Theatre Festival's musical The Last Goodbye. Park appeared as the cop in Will Eno's play Middletown at the off-Broadway Vineyard Theatre in 2010.

Park appeared in Bert Bratt's Broadway revival How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (2011), starring Daniel Radcliffe and John Larroquette.

Park appears in the 2012 independent financial thriller film Supercapitalist, co-starring Linus Roache and Morris Brown.

He appeared as a cast member of The Sound of Music Live on NBC on December 5, 2013. Carrie Underwood is the star of the film. In the NBC presentation of Peter Pan Live, he played Cecco, one of Captain Hook's pirates. Allison Williams and Christopher Walken performed on the show, which was broadcast on December 4, 2014.

Park has appeared in episodes of many television shows, including The Good Wife (2012), The Blacklist (2016), You (2018, two episodes), and FBI (2021).

Larry Murphy played Larry Murphy in the world premiere of the stage musical Dear Evan Hansen at Washington, DC's Arena Stage in 2015. He was not in the off-Broadway run, starting in early 2016, when he appeared in the Broadway musical Tuck Everlasting. In the fall of 2016, he returned to Dear Evan Hansen when the musical made its debut on Broadway. Michael Park received the 2018 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album and his third Daytime Emmy Award for his and the rest of the cast's Today Show appearance on April 25, 2017.

Park appeared in the HBO series The Time Traveler's Wife in 2022.
