Meryem Sarah Uzerli (Turkish pronunciation: [mm uzli]; born on August 12, 1983) is a Turkish-German actress who rose to fame by playing Hürrem Sultan in the Turkish television series Muhteşem Yüzyl (2011-2013), for which she received critical acclaim and multiple accolades, including a Golden Butterfly Award. Ayşe in Kovan, a tale about bee keeping, is one of her most notable film roles.

Early life

Uzerli was born in Kassel, West Germany, to Hüseyin, an actor from Turkey and Ursula, and was a graduate of the German cinema. Canan, a jazz musician, has two older brothers and an older sister. Her great-grandmother is from Croatia. Both Turkish-German citizenship is available thanks to her father's nationality. She made her acting debut in German films with minor roles. She made minor appearances in the television series Notruf Hafenkante (2010) and Ein Fall for two (2010). Uzerli has also known for her appearances in German films including Journey of No Return (2010) and Jetzt aber Ballett (2010). Meral Okay's first leading role in the Turkish television series Muhteşem Yüzyl (2011–2013). Uzerli has appeared in several commercial films and has appeared in numerous commercial films in addition to her acting career and is the face of numerous brands. GQ Turkey selected her Woman of the Year in 2012. She has won 23 awards and has been one of Turkey's most popular actresses due to her role as Hurrem Sultan.

Personal life

Can Ateş, her boyfriend, had broken up with her after discovering that she had cheated on her after leaving Turkey. She said she was pregnant and wanted to give birth to her child. On February 10, she gave birth to a child. On January 8, 2021, a second daughter was born.

In addition to being a model in advertisements for companies such as Elidor, Uzerli has appeared on Elle, Marie Claire, and InStyle magazines in Turkey.

Hürrem Sultan is the protagonist of Uzerli's most well-known breakout role in the film Muhteşem Yüzyl, directed by the Taylan Brothers, and it's the most well-known breakout role. Meral Okay, the series' screenwriter, and Timur Savc, the series' producer, selected her in 2010. "I was invited for a casting in Turkey one day, and then immediately began living in Istanbul almost full time." During the shooting of Muhteşem Yüzyl, she worked in a hotel for two years. Halit Ergenç, Okan Yalabk, and Nebahat ehre all played a leading role. In 2012, she received the Golden Butterfly Award for Best Actress for this role. According to reports, a burnout led to her departure from the series in 2013. Vahide Perçin was cast in an older version of Hürrem from episode 103 to onwards.

Uzerli signed a deal with O3, MBC Group's Turkish production company, at the end of 2014. She was still living in Berlin as of December 2014, but she was planning to migrate to Istanbul. In December 2014, Star TV released a video and a photograph of Uzerli introducing her as one of its stars in 2015. She was also introduced into the television's for 2016 in October 2015. "I am trying to capitalize on my international success in an industry where actors are respected as artists, and where I can find good scripts that allow me to delve into a story that leaves the here and now behind," she says. In March 2015, it was decided that Uzerli would have the lead role with Murat Yrdrm in her latest television series. Gecenin Kraliçesi was later revealed as the series's name. The Taylan Brothers, who live in Muhteşem Yüzyl, are in charge of the project. The scenes for this series were shot in Cannes, France. In Rize, Turkey, the shooting continued later. It premiered on Star TV in January 2016.

Uzerli appeared in a film called Annemin Yaras in 2016, in addition to her television career. In March 2016, the film was released. Ozan Güven, Okan Yalabk, and Belçim Bilgin are among her co-stars. She appeared on Eşkiya Dünya Hükümdar Olmaz from 2016 to 2017. Although the film was not a box office hit, she maintained her film career by appearing in Cingöz Recai opposite Kenan mirzalolu.
