Melissa Reeves Career

Career

The thriller Summer Camp Nightmare (1987) was one of Reeves' early film roles. Jade Perkins, a television actress who appeared on Santa Barbara from 1984 to 1985, was her first television appearance. Jennifer Horton, a teenager played by a young actress), appeared on Days of Our Lives in 1985 (prior to which the actress was a child played by a young actor), and she remained in the role until 1995. During the show's thirtieth anniversary season, Reeves abruptly departed Days, and Corday Productions and Sony TV Entertainment sued her for breach of contract. The case was decided out-of-court by Reeves for an unspecified sum, which Days Executive Producer Ken Corday donated to pediatric AIDS research. Jennifer's role was quickly recast with actress Stephanie Cameron, who remained on the program until 1998.

Melissa and Scott Reeves appeared in Half a Dozen Babies, a made-for-TV film released in 1999.

In 2000, Reeves appeared in Days of Our Lives as Jennifer Horton. She and her family moved to Tennessee after leaving the show for the second time in 2006.

On June 9, 2010, the Reeves returned to Days of Our Lives for a one-month visit and then became a regular cast member in November of this year. After a hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Reeves had decided not to return to the role as filming resumed, and the role would be recast. She was chastised by some followers, as well as her co-star Linsey Godfrey, for 'liking' social media messages of conservative commentator Candace Owens, who condemned the Black Lives Matter campaign. During a controversy over its Chief Operating Officer's declaration of opposing same-sex marriage, Reeves had previously been chastised for expressing sympathy for Chick-fil-A.
