Billionaire mortgage lender Mat Ishbia's purchase of a majority stake in embattled Robert Sarver's Phoenix Suns and Mercury at a $4 billion valuation is expected to be made official in the next two weeks.  The $4 billion transaction is expected to be ratified by the NBA's board of governors before the league's trade deadline, per a report from ESPN. Ishbia will take over as majority owner from Sarver, who was suspended by the league last September for one year and fined $10 million over allegations of racism. 

Michigan State is fined $100K by Big Ten conference after tunnel attack

The Big Ten has disciplined Michigan State and Michigan for their roles in stadium tunnel altercations that led to seven Spartans being charged with crimes. The conference announced Monday that it is fining Michigan State $100,000 for its football players 'hitting, kicking or using of their helmet' to hit Michigan players and suspending cornerback Khary Crump, who is facing a felony charge, for the first eight games of next season. The Big Ten is also reprimanding Michigan for failing to 'provide adequate protection for personnel of both home and visiting teams when entering and leaving playing arenas,' per conference policy.

Criminal charges have been filed against seven Michigan State football players for their alleged roles in a locker room tunnel attack on rival Michigan following their October 29 meeting in Ann Arbor. Spartans cornerback Khary Crump, linebacker Tank Brown, defensive end Zion Young, safety Angelo Grose, defensive back Justin White, defensive end Brandon Wright, and pass rusher Jacoby Windmon have all been charged by the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office. Crump faces a felony assault charge, Windmon was charged with a count of assault and battery, while five players -- Brown, Young, Grose, White and Wright - have been charged with one count of misdemeanor aggravated battery each.
