Maximilian Thomas Waller, born 3 March 1988, is an English cricketer.
He is both a right-handed batsman and a leg break bowler.
He plays first-class cricket for Somerset County Cricket Club. When Waller was a student at Millfield School, where he had a fruitful career, he was captain of the 1st XI. He bowled his leg breaks with a lot of success in 2007 and 2008, making his 1st XI debut and playing in four matches before making his Championship debut and playing in four matches.
He was given a two-year contract and spent the winter of 2009-10 on the ECB's Performance Programme. Waller did not participate in any Championship cricket in 2010 and 2011, but he did participate in eight CB40 and fifteen T20 matches. Waller was named the 2nd XI Player of the Year in 2011 in 2011.
He appeared in three First Class matches in 2012, with his best bowling analysis of 3 for 33 against Cardiff MCCU at Taunton Vale.
He also claimed his best T20 figures of 4 for 16. Waller didn't play any First Class cricket in 2013, but he did well enough in nine YB40 matches to lead Somerset to victory over Glamorgan at Taunton and his career best 3 for 39 against Middlesex, which was also at Taunton.
He has also appeared in ten T20 matches. Waller took 12 wickets in 12 T20 matches in 2014, which he won by 12 wickets. Waller took five wickets at 22 runs each in four List A games and 12 T20 matches taking 9 wickets with a best of 3 for 17. In 2016, Waller's appearances for the First XI were once more restricted to one day cricket. He was the second highest wicket taker in T20 with a best of 4 for 33 in comparison to which he was flexible in the field and took seven wickets, while in the RLODC he claimed five wickets and took six catches. Waller's career saw him progress in white ball cricket, taking 16 wickets in 16 games in the NatWest T20 Blast in 2017, as well as showing remarkable athleticism in the field.
Waller also claimed his 100th wicket for the club in T20 cricket, becoming the second individual to do so after Alfonzo Thomas in February 2019 as the 2nd leading all-time wicket taker in Somerset T20 cricket.
