Early life

Sabre was born in Hackney, London. He and his family moved to New Ross, County Wexford, where he grew up at age four. Following advice from English musician Plan B, he returned to London to pursue a musical career.

Sabre's career began in 2008 when he appeared on the tracks "Lucky" and "Used to Blame" from the album Sense the Terror by Irish rappers Terawrizt and Nu-Centz. He appeared on rappers Johnnyboy and Intox's Propaganda EP and also released his own songs, including "Lonely Side of Life" and "Fade Away." Sabre continued his education in 2009 when he appeared on Jermicide & Danny Digg's album Middle Class, co-producing on three tracks: "Afraid," "Where We Go to," and "Still With Me." The Maverick Sabre's performed "These Walls" on SB.TV with the song "They Found Him a Gun" and was included in the BBC 1Xtra 'Jail Tales' collection. Sabre returned to working with his colleagues, including on Terawrizt's album Written in Stone and Terawrizt & Nu-Centz' album Sense the Terror 2, which appeared on tracks such as "Life Fly By" and "Life by." Sabre's debut mixtape, The Traveller Man, was released in the United Kingdom on November 25, 2010. The song "Sometimes" was released as a free digital download as well as a promotional video to accompany it.

Impala Records' "Sometimes" was released as a single on January 6, 2011. On "Fire in Your Eyes," Sabre appeared on drum and bass duo Chase & Status's second studio album No More Idols. He also appears on "Sleepless," a Chase & Status track that is regularly performed live on Chase & Status, although no studio version has been released to date. Sabre appeared on Professor Green's fourth single "Jungle" on January 1, 2010; it was also on the album Alive Till I'm Dead. The single debuted at number 34 on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at 31 this week. Maverick's debut single "Look What I Doe," a parody of The Lost Words, was released on March 7, 2011. On BBC Two's Later... with Jools Holland, Sabre performed with a live band on April 19, 2011. Maverick's extended play The Lost Words debuted at number 2 on the iTunes Store Top ten Songs chart after his appearance on Chris Moyles' "Wonderwall" on Chris Moyles' BBC Radio 1 Comic Relief show. He appeared on The Script's Science & Faith Tour in 2011 and performed his song "Let Me Go" which debuted on the UK Singles Chart in August 2011.

Sabre's first single "Let Me Go" was released on July 25, 2011 and it debuted at number 16 in the United Kingdom chart. On February 6, 2012, Lonely Are The Brave, his debut album, was released. "I Want," "What Have I Done To You," and "No One" were the first singles issued. Sabre appears on a remix of his song "I Want" with rappers Chipmunk and Benny Banks. He appeared on "We'll Never Know" with rappers Akala and Logic. Sabre appeared on the Sunday Night Sessions segment of The Late Show with Joanne Good on BBC London 94.9. Sabre appeared on Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds - The New Generation in the role of Parson Nathaniel. In the 2012–2014 live shows, Jason Donovan appeared in the role. Sabre began working with a teen Jorja Smith and she became his protégé, whom he later introduced to the United Kingdom.

Sabre released a video for the single "Breathe" on April 9, 2014. Sabre released a video for the remix of "Emotion (Ain't Nobody)" on July 24, 2014, starring Chip, Devlin, and George the Poet. The album was released on October 31, 2015. Sabre appeared on Jorja Smith's album Project 11's track "Carry Me Home" on the 17th of November 16.

Sabre released When I Wake Up on his own imprint FAMM on March 22, 2019. The singles "Drifting," "Her Grace" (featuring Chronixx), "Slow Down" (featuring Jorja Smith) and "Glory" were promoted to the charts. "Glory" was featured on Grey's Anatomy's "Love of My Life" on Sunday, March 26, 2020.

Sabre revealed a new EP titled You Know How It Feels in June 2020, which will be released on July 24th, 2020 via FAMM. The EP's lead single "Signs" is the first single to be released on June 26th.

Sabre's fourth studio album Don't Forget to Look Up, released on January 28, 2022.
