On his main channel, "MatthewSantoro," he produces top ten lists and "50 Amazing Facts" videos.

Personal life

Santoro grew up in Welland, Ontario, and later moved to St. Catharines, Ontario. He is of Italian descent through his father, and his mother is French-Canadian. He moved to Toronto, Ontario, in May 2015. Santoro is a fan of Drake and hip-hop music, and he often refers to Toronto as "the 6ix."

In January 2016, he released a video titled My Abuse Story. He cried out for hours about an unidentified romantic partner, who he said was manipulative and compelled him to leave his family and family members in favour of her, while still emotionally and physically abused him throughout their marriage. Nicole Arbour, the "unidentified partner" talked about in the video, was claimed by his companion, Rob Gavagan (né Dyke).

Santoro moved to Los Angeles in the first week of January 2017 and holds a U.S. green card but retains Canadian citizenship.

Santoro revealed that he suffers from clinical depression on October 21, 2017. He has made several news videos describing his growth and that he has since been doing better.

Santoro said on July 27, 2020, he explained that after returning to Toronto, someone or some group took a truck from the moving company that housed the majority of his possessions, leaving him nothing other than what he did not do when returning to Toronto alone. The stolen trailer was discovered on July 30, and its contents were returned to Santoro on July 31, but some items were still missing and others were damaged.

Matthew Santoro Career

Career

After Santoro graduated from Brock University with a Master of Accountancy in 2010, he became an accountant. That year, he began posting videos on YouTube, mainly skits. He was fired from his accounting career in 2012 after being laid off. In a video titled "I Lost My Job Today," he related to his experience. He began focusing on his YouTube work and, in the process, began posting videos every week. During this period, he recalls that his opinionated fact compilation videos, such as his top ten lists and "50 Amazing Facts To Blow Your Mind" series, were viewed more than his other videos. Since being a beginner, he started posting those sorts of videos more often. He claims that his more frequent uploading of these videos has helped him grow his fanbase from a few thousand viewers per video in the past to the millions he now has. Through the money he earns from ad sales, he can make a living off YouTube, which is more than what he earned as an accountant. Santoro was targeted by other YouTube stars plagiarizing content word-for-word from Listverse in 2016, and Santoro announced that he'd continue to cite sources in his videos from now on, as well as retroactively adding citations to videos he's already posted.

Santoro revealed in a tweet on August 15, 2021, that he was removing YouTube after ten years of uploading in favour of streaming on Twitch.

Santoro has been a special guest narrator on CinemaSins' All Wrong With... series. He was featured in the Underworld: Evolution video, which was released on October 10, 2014. In their film "YouTube Complaints 2015," he collaborated with Matthias, making a song called "The Booty Song" and Barely Political." "What if Quicksilver Ran Past You?" Santoro and Vsauce3 performed together with The Muppets in a video entitled, "What if Quicksilver Ran Past You?" "The first video in the Muppet collaboration project on YouTube was the first video in the Muppet collaboration project."

In Terminator Genisys: A promotional series for the 2015 film Terminator Genisys, he collaborated with Lilly Singh, Olga Kay, Toby Turner, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, among others.

Santoro produced the 100th episode of his "50 Amazing Facts" video series in July; to celebrate the occasion, Santoro had each fact presented by a different YouTuber. Rhett and Link, Kanwer Singh, Daym Drops, MatPat, Hank Green, iJustine, and the Fine Brothers were among those who took part.
