Early career
Franco was invited to perform onstage at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in 2003 as part of a show hosted by the Society of American Magicians titled "Stars of Tomorrow."
Franco, who graduated from college in 2010, held his one-man exhibition on college campuses around the country, touring six months out of the year. In 2012, he was nominated for "Best Rising Star" and in 2013 was named "Best College Performer" by Campus Activities Magazine (based in Prost, South Carolina) in their Reader's Choice Awards. He would often return to University of Rhode Island, his alma mater, to lecture at student orientations.
Franco was always encouraged by his grandmother, Eleanor Campellone, who told an interviewer, "His mother was always working, but he couldn't tell her everything"; look mother, not show mom." So the grandma was present, and I had all the time in the world. I'd spent hours watching his tricks.
Career
On August 5, 2015, Franco began headlining at LINQ Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The show is titled "Mat Franco: Magic Reinvented Nightly." The Las Vegas Review Journal announced that the show was dubbed "Best Magic Show in Las Vegas" by late 2016.
Franco appeared on America's Got Talent for the first live broadcast of the show's tenth season (August 12, 2015). He later returned for the season's finale.
On September 17, and December 9, 2015, Franco appeared in his own two-hour magic television special titled Mat Franco's Got Magic.
In April 2015, Franco began to regularly post his tricks on his YouTube channel. He now has over 200,000 viewers on his website.
In the "Las Vegas Weekly Readers' Choice Awards" in 2016, his Vegas show was named "Best Show" on the Las Vegas Strip.
Mat Franco returned to his alma mater University of Rhode Island in February 2017 for a show to celebrate the university's 125th anniversary.
The LINQ officially renamed the theater "Mat Franco Theater" and the city of Las Vegas presented Franco with a key to the Las Vegas Strip on July 10, 2017; "Mat Franco Day" was declared on July 10, 2017.
Caesars Entertainment has reported the signing of a new contract with Franco, as well as a five-year extension of his residency show "Mat Franco - Magic Reinvented Nightly" at the LINQ Hotel + Experience.
