Mason Tyler Musso (born March 17, 1989) is an American singer, guitarist, and songwriter.

He is best known for his role as the lead vocalist in the band Metro Station.

Musso is the older brother of actress Mitchel Musso of Hannah Montana fame.

Early life

Mason Tyler Musso was born in Dallas, Texas, to Katherine (née Moore) and Samuel Musso on March 17, 1989. His family moved to Rockwall, Texas, shortly after. Mitchel and Marc, his two younger brothers, are both actors. Mitchel landed Oliver Oken on the Disney Channel children's comedy series Hannah Montana, causing the Musso family to move to Burbank, California.

Career

On the set of Miley's television show Hannah Montana, Mason Musso met Trace Cyrus, the older brother of actress and singer Miley Cyrus. Blake Healy and Anthony Impo formed the band Metro Station shortly afterward. The group first appeared on Myspace and shortly signed a record deal with Columbia/Red Ink. On April 22, 2008, the band's first self-titled album was released. This album featured the single "Shake It," which peaked at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also ranked in the top ten in eight countries outside of the United States (#2 in Australia, #4 in Canada and the Republic of Ireland, #6 in the United Kingdom, #8 in Japan, and #9 in Austria, Germany, and New Zealand) ranked in the top ten in eight countries outside of the United Kingdom (#2 in Australia, #8 in Japan, and #9 in Austria, Germany, and New Zealand). The single was named Gold by the RIAA on June 13, 2008, and later Platinum that year, before finally receiving Double Platinum status at the end of January 2009. Seventeen Forever, their second song to crack the Billboard Hot 100 at number 42 in December 2007, has been named gold. Metro Station's first self-titled album was released on September 18, 2007, and they ranked at number 39 on Billboard 200 and has been named gold in Canada.

"Where's My Angel" was the band's longest film Alice in Wonderland, the group recorded a song titled "Where's My Angel." The band went into indefinite hiatus in March 2010, after a number of personal differences between Musso and Cyrus. Since it was revealed that both Musso and Cyrus were working on solo projects, Metro Station officially disbanded.

Musso released a video "Ain't So High" on YouTube on May 31, 2011, shortly after acquiring the rights to the Metro Station name. Musso revealed on July 20, 2011 that he was working on a new Metro Station record with the support of former members Blake Healy and Anthony Improbo. Musso's second song, "Closer and Closer," was released on SoundCloud and YouTube on September 25, 2011. Blake Healy performed on September 25, 2011.

Cyrus returned to the band on August 13, 2014. Savior, the band's second album, was released on June 30, 2015. They disbanded once more in 2017, but they reformed in 2019 and announced the single I Hate Society in 2020.

Musso collaborated with Louis Vecchio, Matthew Di Panni, and reuniting with former Metro Station Anthony Improgo's drummer Anthony Improgo in 2020 to begin a new venture under the name "Social Order." Musso discussed why the initiative was initiated in an interview with Alternative Press. "The whole quarantine has unquestionably made me want to write more, try new ideas, and try new things with new stuff that I wouldn't normally do." That year, the band's debut single "Going Outside Dancing" was released.
