Mark Tremonti Life

Mark Thomas Tremonti (born April 18, 1974) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and author best known as the lead guitarist of the rock bands Creed and Alter Bridge.

He is a founding member of both bands and has also performed with many other musicians over the years.

Tremonti formed his own band in 2011, releasing the album All I Was in July 2012, Cauterize in June 2015, Dust in May 2016, and A Dying Machine in June 2018.

Tremonti and science-fiction novelist John Shirley have adapted the metal rock opera A Dying Machine. Tremonti has received a few accolades, including one Grammy Award for Creed's single "With Arms Wide Open," since his time with Creed. Guitar World named him "Guitarist of the Year" for three years in a row, and he was also ranked as the fourth best heavy metal guitarist of all time in 2011.

Early life

Tremonti was born in Detroit, Michigan, on April 18, 1974. He grew up in a Roman Catholic family of Italian descent in Grosse Pointe, just outside Detroit, for the majority of his childhood, before heading to Wilmette, Illinois. He began to become enthralled with music and bought his first guitar at the age of 11. His family moved back to Orlando, Florida, where he enrolled in Lake Highland Preparatory School when he was fifteen. His mother was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus, which had devastated Tremonti.

After graduation, he travelled to Clemson, South Carolina, to major in finance. He went back to Florida to enroll in Creed University, where he was reunited with his then-famous bandmate Scott Stapp, whom Tremonti hadn't seen since high school.

He served as a cook at Chili's before Creed took off.

Personal life

Tremonti married Victoria Rodriguez on December 14, 2002, with whom he has two sons, Austen and Pearson, and Stella. They now live in Windermere, Florida. Stella, Tremonti's daughter, has Down syndrome and support Down syndrome charities.

Tremonti is a fan of guitars, amplifiers, and pinball machines, and he loves playing table tennis. He is also a huge reader of reading: "I started going crazy reading books, fifty or six years ago," he told Artistdirect. Now, I can't get enough." He has included works such as George R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire, The Book of the New Sun by John Scalzi, The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, and Stephen King's On Writing as some of his favorites.

Michael, one of Tremonti's brothers, is Alter Bridge's fan liaison and publicist. Dan Leopold, brother of Alter Bridge and Creed, has designed the artwork for all of the albums, as well as being the president and creative director of a design/marketing firm called Core Twelve. Tremonti's mother died in January 2002, and Alter Bridge's song "In Loving Memory" is dedicated to her.

Mark Tremonti Career

Career

Tremonti is a founding member of the American hard rock band Creed. Scott Stapp, the lead vocalist, joined the band in 1994, with fellow members Brian Marshall and Scott Phillips joining as bassist and drummer respectively. Creed is listed by many as one of the key acts of the late 1990s and early 2000s post-grunge movements. Tremonti and Stapp have been collectively recognized as one of rock music's most prolific songwriting teams.

The band's debut album My Own Prison was a huge hit in the United States in 1997, selling over six million copies. "My Own Prison," "Torn," "What Is This Life For" and "One" were among the four singles to be released from the album: "My Own Prison," "What's This Life For" and "One." Both songs reached No. 1 in the United States. Creed is the first band to achieve such success with their debut album on Billboard's Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Human Clay, which was a huge success and a platinum by the RIAA in 1999, was followed by My Own Prison. Human Clay's four singles include "With Arms Wide Open," "What If," and "Are You Ready." On the rock radio charts, "Higher" spent a record-breaking 17 weeks.

Marshall left the band in 2000 due to increased resistance with Stapp and other passions. Brett Hestla, a touring bassist, was temporarily replaced by him.

In 2001, Creed was named for their first and only Grammy Award for Best Rock Song for "With Arms Wide Open"; a new award in 2001. Weathered, the band's second multi-platinum-selling album, from which six singles were released, "My Sacrifice," "One Last Breath," "Weathered," and "Bullets" was released the following year. This will be the band's first album without Marshall on bass; Tremonti handled the bass parts herself. The tour to support this album was largely successful, but it came to a very bitter concert in Chicago that ultimately resulted in the band's disbandement.

In 2004, the band announced that they had disbanded, citing differences between Stapp and the other members, Tremonti in particular. The three instrumental players proceeded to discover Alter Bridge, while Stapp opted for a solo career, and Creed unveiled their Greatest Hits in November 2004.

However, Creed had revived with plans for a tour and a new album following months of rumors, despite early Tremend's promises that Creed would never return. Full Circle was released in October 2009, along with three singles, "Overcome," "Rain," and "A Thousand Faces." Despite moderate critical success, it became the band's first album not to be released by the RIAA. Creed celebrated the album through the summers of 2009 and 2010.

In December 2009, the band Unbeatable Live documented a record-breaking concert film called Creed Live. Tremonti, Marshall, and Phillips had planned to alternate tours between Alter Bridge and Creed with the singers of both bands performing on their own projects while the other band is playing.

According to Tremonti, a fifth Creed album was expected in late 2011 or early 2012, and in early 2012, the band revived to tour and begin work on a new album that never appeared.

Mark Tremonti said in an interview with Kerrang that he had "not" been a close friend of Scott's in 9 years, in June 2015. Stapp expected that Tremonti, Marshall, and Phillips would return to Creed permanently and forget their Inter Bridge positions, according to Stapp. During the entire South American Tour in 2012, the band felt this was unfair and didn't discuss any more about Creed's future. At the end of the tour, Alter Bridge continued to operate.

After Creed disbanded, Alter Bridge was established in January 2004 by Tremonti, Marshall, and Phillips. They recruited Myles Kennedy, a member of The Mayfield Four and a prospective singer on Slash's solo album, to be their singer.

On Wind-up Records' August 2004, the newly formed band released One Day Remains, their debut album. It received mostly mixed feedback, but it became Alter Bridge's first RIAA-certified album, winning gold. From One Day Remains' "Open Your Eyes," "Find the True," and "Broken Wings," three singles were released: "Broken Wings" and "Live and Real" were among their songs.

After a tour, Blackbird, its second album, was released in October 2007, on Universal Republic in October 2007. Blackbird received mostly critical feedback and four singles, including "Reality Today," "Watch Over You," and "Before Tomorrow Comes." Both Tremonti and Kennedy's guitar solo, as well as the title track, received high marks from reviewers, and the album's guitar solo, which was later voted the best guitar solo of all time by Guitarist magazine in 2011.

Alter Bridge embarked on a worldwide tour in aid of Blackbird, capturing their live DVD titled Live from Amsterdam on December 7, 2008.

This DVD was only available at select retailers during the Creed reunion tour in 2009 and on Amazon with a Blu-ray version and a deluxe DVD version set to be available later in stores. However, the introduction of stores was delayed a few times due to repeated label issues, causing anxiety among Alter Bridge supporters and band members. After two years of delays, it was finally released in North America on January 11, 2011.

Alter Bridge's third album, AB III, was released in Europe and the United Kingdom on Roadrunner Records on October 11, 2010, and on November 9, 2010 in North America on Alter Bridge Recordings via EMI. AB III, a loose concept album, has received critical acclaim, with artistdirect's Rick Florino calling it a "sprawling masterpiece."

"Isolation," the company's lead single, debuted at No. 1. The band's first single to do so is 1 on active rock radio and the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks. In addition to co-headlining the second annual Carnival of Madness Tour with The Theory of a Deadman, the band toured extensively in support of the record, with Black Stone Cherry and Like a Storm in the spring of 2011. The tour lasted into January 2012. "I Know It Hurts," "Ghost of Days Gone By," "Wonderful Life," and "Life Must Go On" have four new songs from AB III. On March 26, 2012, the band also released Live at Wembley, their second concert film.

The band reunited in late 2012 and 2013 fortress, their fourth album, which was released on September 30, 2013. The band reformed in January 2016 to record their fifth studio album The Last Hero, which was released on October 7, 2016.

Tremonti had hoped to start Downshifter (with Hatebreed vocalist Jamey Jasta and Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison) when Creed's career came to an end, but the project never got off the ground. Tremonti and his brother's, the online musician's association, and record label, formed FRET12, an online musician's community, production firm, and record label, and later released his 2008 instructional guitar documentary film titled Mark Tremonti: The Sound & the Life, wherein he teaches all of his guitar solos from Alter Bridge's sophomore release, Blackbird. He also instructs warm-ups, alternate tuning, finger picking style, legato techniques, and other advanced exercises.

Myles Kennedy, Michael Angelo Batio, Rusty Cooley, Bill Peck, and Troy Stetina appear on his DVD, the first in the Sound & the Story series of instructional DVDs. Leslie West and Troy Stetina's DVD collection were also included in the aforementioned series.

Tremonti's interest in a solo album in 2010 had already sparked. "The bands are so different," he said of his two new main projects. "I write so much." I'll do a solo album because there are some songs that I'd hate to hear because they don't work for Creed or Alter Bridge." He plays guitar and singing lead on all of the songs, as well as former Subpoena members Eric Friedman and Garrett Whitlock on the album. Tremonti described the music as "melody driven."

Tremonti said in a May 2011 interview that it would be a "heavier-sounding" thrash metal album. The album is "probably heavier than either Creed or Alter Bridge," according to Hector, who added that it will have "lots of soloing."

Tremonti unveiled a website on January 20, 2012, where fans can sign up to get news, previews, live streams, and prizes. On the website, as well as the album title, All I Was, a collection of working song titles was also included. Since the album's debut, he later launched a new website for his solo work.

"You Waste Your Time" was the first single from the album on July 10, 2012, and "You Waste Your Time" was the first single from the album, according to FMQB, and "You Waste Your Time" was expected to active rock radio stations in May 2012.

On Loudwire.com, the complete song was released on May 6, 2012. The song debuted on the iTunes Rock Songs Chart one day after its debut, and Tremonti's live music video for it debuted on Noisecreep on May 17, 2012. The album's official launch date was revealed on Ultimate Guitar Archive on July 17, 2012.

Friedman and Whitlock's solo band formed in the United States, with Alter Bridge and Creed bassist Brian Marshall playing bass guitar as a touring member. On July 17, 2012, the band appeared at The Social in Orlando, Florida, with the set being shot for a future video release. In September 2012, Wolfgang Van Halen replaced Brian Marshall as a touring bassist.

For the 2015 release, Tremonti released Wolfgang Van Halen, who appeared on bass. Tremonti performed a sample of the song "Radical Change" on March 3, 2015, although not revealing the album name or track listing for the forthcoming sophomore effort. Tremonti also revealed a new song preview for the track "Flying Monkeys" on March 17, 2015, giving Cauterize a concrete launch date of June 9, 2015. Tremonti revealed via Twitter on March 20, 2015 that the first single, "Another Heart," had been released on March 24, 2015.

Another Heart, another song by fret12. The artwork for Cauterize was revealed on March 27, 2015, and it was revealed that Cauterize was the first of two albums to be released as the two albums were released together. "Duel's second album, Dust," the Alter Bridge record and [they] have that three- or four-month gap, [they]'ll be touring on it to help it." "I wanted to make sure both albums flowed smoothly," Tremonti said. If there were two slow moody songs on each album, [he]'d put one on each album, the same thing if there were two really bad aggressive songs would break them up equally. There isn't a particular theme to one or another. "It's certainly not the 'b-sides' of this album,'" each recording is mixed. Dust was first published on FRET12 Records on April 29, 2016, and Michael Baskette, who also produced the bulk of Alter Bridge's tracks, released Tremonti's past two albums and also manufactured the bulk of Alter Bridge's material.

A Dying Machine, Tremonti's fourth solo album, was released on June 8, 2018, by Napalm Records. Michael Baskette had the record broken once more. The album is accompanied by a full-length book by Mark Tremonti and John Shirley, tying together loose ends of the album's plot. In June 2018, Tremonti sponsored Iron Maiden on the European leg of their Legacy of the Beast Tour.

Since his time with Creed, Tremonti has collaborated with many artists. Tremonti performed on his comedy album Lord, I Apologize, on which Tremonti is listed as a performer and songwriter. "We met a long time ago, before his career really took off." We joked about getting together and performing a song, but he called me up one day to tell me he really wanted to do it. So he sang to me his idea, and I went to record my guitar lines that day, and the album went gold."

Tremonti's second appearance in the neo-classical metal style with guitarist Michael Angelo Batio, whose 2004 album Hands Without Shadows featured Tremonti as a guest artist on the Deep Purple cover "Burn." He said he is "really good friends" with Batio, and that working with him was "an honor." Batio appeared on Tremonti's guitar instructional DVD The Sound of a Life as a guest tutor. Hands Without Shadows 2 – Voices, Batio's forthcoming album, appeared on Batio's new album in 2009, performing a solo on the Metallica medley "Metallica Rules."

Tremonti co-produced some songs on In Due Time by Submersed in 2004, which Tremonti assisted in getting signed to Wind-up Records. Eric Friedman, a former guitarist for Suburban, recalled his time with Tremonti, saying that his experiences as a result of his music and songwriting, as well as being able to get through the things we need to hear."

Producing is not something that I'd do any time soon," Tremonti said. He continued performing on the musical front, with Fozzy on their album All That Remains in 2005, performing a guitar solo on the album "The Way I Am." Myles Kennedy, a member of Alter Bridge, appeared on the album as well.

Tremonti made two guest appearances in 2008, one with Bury Your Dead on their self-titled album and another with Sevendust on the track "Hope" from Chapter VII: Hope & Sorrow, which also featured appearances from Myles Kennedy and Chris Daughtry.

Tremonti revealed in March 2022 that he would debut a covers album of Frank Sinatra songs that were recorded with former Sinatra musicians. The album, Tremonti Sings Sinatra, was released on May 27, 2022, with proceeds going to the National Down Syndrome Society.
