Marisa Miller Life

Marisa Lee Miller (born August 6, 1978) is an American model and occasional film actress best known for her appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and her appearances in Victoria's Secret.

Miller, who shot photographer Mario Testino for fashion magazines, such as Vogue, started working for both agencies in 2002.

She became a Victoria's Secret Angel in 2007 and appeared on the front cover of the 2008 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in record-breaking numbers.

Her exploits have resulted in her being dubbed the "return of the great American supermodel." "She has been known for stints with Harley-Davidson, for whom she is the first spokesperson in the company's history, and the NFL, for whom she was the first spokesperson."

Miller is regarded as a sex symbol; she ranked No. 301 in the world's Top Tendency. 1 on Maxim magazine's 2008 "Hot 100" list and FHM's global 2010 "Sexiest Women in the World" poll.

She was also an ambassador for both the American Cancer Society and the USO, in addition to modeling.

Miller made her R.I.P.D. debut in R.I.P.D.

(2013).

Early life

Marisa Lee Bertetta was born in Santa Cruz, California, to Krista (née Useldinger) and Marc Bertetta. She has two younger sisters. Miller attended Aptos High and Monte Vista Christian School in high school. She regarded herself as a tomboy growing up, with mostly male friends and little understanding of what girly is. She often wore large t-shirts to hide her body, and would get fully dressed to go to the garbage can while sitting at the beach because of her shyness.

Miller was first "discovered" in a San Francisco cafe by two Italian modeling companies at the age of 16. Despite her "shy and conservative" appearance after speaking with her mother, she and her mother were on a plane to Italy a few months later. Fashion modelling was going through a period of the androgynous look in the 1990s, but Marisa felt she was too curvy and too short to suit the trend. Miller became famous in 1997 when she appeared nude in the first issue of Perfect 10 magazine. Despite placing third in Perfect 10 magazine's first annual model search, she was often featured in the following issues, including the winter 1998 and September 1999 editions' covers, as well as a reprint for the Fall 2004 edition cover.

Personal life

In 2000, Jim Miller, a Los Angeles surfing contest promoter and lifeguard, married Jim Miller, a California lifeguard. In 2002, the couple wed; they divorced shortly after. Marisa continued to use the surname Miller after she was divorced. On April 15, 2006, she married music producer Griffin Guess. On December 13, 2012, Miller gave birth to Gavin Lee Guess, the couple's son. Grayson Lee Bazyl Guess, the couple's second son, was born on May 29, 2015.

She loved surfing from an early age and her aunt was on the pro tour. "I feel my absolute best—physically, mentally, and spiritually—when surfing every day." At the 4th annual Celebrity Beach Bowl, she also received the Most Valuable Player award. She was a standout volleyball player in high school and has taken up boxing. Miller obtained her motorcycle license and rides a Harley Nightster after signing with Harley-Davidson. She has stated that she would like to be a sportscaster. Miller comes from a family of nurses. Her mother returned to college to work as a pediatrics nurse, and her siblings are also nurses. If she stops modeling, she has expressed an interest in following the same career path.

Miller, who was born in 2009, is an ambassador for the American Cancer Society. All proceeds from her online store will be donated to the charity. She also supports the Young Survival Coalition, which raises the alarm of breast cancer in women under the age of 40, as well as the Surfrider Foundation, which aims to protect the planet's oceans and beaches. In 2014, she was honoured with the inaugural Paul Walker Ocean Leadership Award. Miller held the Monte Foundation music festival in October 2009, an annual fundraiser for schools in the Aptos area, where she and Guess have a house. She is also an ambassador for the United StatesO; she visits military bases and gets regular fan mail from American troops around the world.

Miller posed with her second child in May 2015 as part of a PETA protest against SeaWorld's policy of separating baby orcas from their parents.

Miller was employed by Victoria's Secret and appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, in which she appeared in every issue from 2002 to 2008. Miller debuted in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on December 4, 2007, a segment of the following year's collection was opened. Other runway appearances include 2007's Fashion for Relief, benefiting victims of Hurricane Katrina, MTV's Fashionably Loud, Imitation of Christ, Inca, and Amir Slama's Rosa Cha, who was one of the most awaited models. Miller would occupy the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in New York City on February 12, 2008, during a three-story billboard. The issue's tandem online launch of the publication at 228 million, a 41% increase over 2007. Sports Illustrated's 2009 swimsuit calendar was published in September 2008.

Victoria's Secret brought her to work in 2008, with a five-city tour to promote the 2008 Swim collection's introduction in stores; the April–May tour included stops in New York City, Miami, Chicago (where she threw the first pitch at a Chicago Cubs baseball game), Boston, and Minneapolis. The relaunch of Victoria's Secret sports line, VSX, was soon followed by her first official campaign as an Angel: advertising the company's fragrance Very Sexy Dare. Miller was chosen to wear the year's "Fantasy Bra" a harlequin style containing 2,300 white, champagne, and cognac diamonds, as well as a 16-carat heart-shaped brown-yellow diamond pendant for a $3-million value and 150 total carats at the 2009 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Miller's Secret had parted with Victoria's Secret in January 2010, according to the Chief Marketing Officer for Limited Brands, "we adore Marisa and we'll continue to collaborate with her." Miller announced in late 2010 that she had left for other ventures.

Miller outlined her shift in focus from modelling to becoming a celebrity brand in a Forbes interview in July 2010. For this reason, she switched to promoting consumer products in accordance with her own brand and image. Miller launched a line of shoes in July 2008 that she had co-developed with skateboarder/surfer-oriented firm Vans. Miller appeared in a YouTube video starring All Star baseball player Ryan Braun for Remington's ShortCut hair clippers in 2008.

Miller became Harley-Davidson's first spokesperson in the company's one-year history in 2008. Miller first collaborated with Harley to produce the VRSCF V-Rod Muscle motorcycle in November 2009 and rejoined the company in November 2009 to act as the face of the company's first "Military Appreciation Month" campaign, which featured Miller as a classic pin-up in military-themed ads and online content. She was back at work for the company in 2010, this time for their "Start Something" campaign, influencing dreamers to become new riders. Beginning in 2010, Miller marketed the rum brand Captain Morgan as the company's "Official First Mate" in marketing, social responsibility communications, and event appearances.

Miller had been hired as a spokesperson for the 2010-2011 season, as well as hosting the NFL International Series match between the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos in London, beginning in October 2010. She has appeared in commercials for NFL Network and the California Travel and Tourism Commission's "Visit California" campaign. Miller's 2008 advertisement for Activision's Guitar Hero: World Tour was deemed too sexy to air. The advertisement was part of a series starring various celebrities and was based on Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock and Roll" in a shirt and underwear, and was based on the famous scene from Risky Business, where Tom Cruise dances to Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock and Roll" in a shirt and underwear.
