He was the team's third keeper, after Stefano Sorrentino and Lorenzo Squizzi. Silvestri was also the first choice keeper for the "spring" under-20 team. Chievo tried to buy Silvestri in a joint venture in June 2011 for €300,000.

Silvestri returned to Reggio Emilia in July to replace Niccol Manfredini. However, Silvestri became Niccol Bellucci's backup after round 12. Silvestri reaffirmed as the first choice after the winter break. Chievo acquired Silvestri outright for another €150,000 in June 2012.

In the new season, Silvestri wore no.1 shirt for Padova, and he will face former internationals Ivan Pelizzoli, who was second-choice last season. However, Pelizzoli and Luca Anania, who were second choices in the same team on the last day of the transfer window, have left for Padova.

Silvestri signed for Cagliari on loan, with the option for Cagliari to purchase half of the team's ownership rights at the end of the season, completing the transfer. Goalkeeper Michael Agazzi joined Chievo on a permanent basis on January 30, 2014

In June 2011, he was chosen by Ciro Ferrara for the Italy Under 21s team to represent his country in the 2011 Toulon Tournament, serving as a back-up to Sergio Viotti. Silvestri only appeared in the bronze match once. He did not get a call-up for the 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship qualifier, which was held in a separate tournament.
