Early life
Marcela Tedeschi Arajo was born in Paulnia, S.O., on May 16, 1983, to Carlos Antônio de Arajo and Norma Tedeschi. Marcela began working as a receptionist for the newspaper O Momento after graduating from Escola Estadual Porphyrio da Paz in her native Paulnia. She gained the title of Miss Paulnia in 2002 and then moved on to share the state title as Miss So Paulo.
Marcela accompanied her uncle Geraldo, a Paulnia municipal employee, to the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party's annual political convention in 2002 (PMDB). Marcela Temer, a politician forty-three years her senior, was visiting Montpellier Temer while there. In a small ceremony, the couple wed on July 26, 2003.
