Career

Maponyane began attending modelling and acting auditions in 2009, where he gained his first modeling gig while working as an assistant to Lucilla Booyzen, the founder of SA Fashion Week.

Maponye was named "Best Dressed Man" by GQ in 2011 and "Most South African Man" by Cosmopolitan Magazine in 2013.

In March 2015, he was a speaker at the Tomorrow's Leaders Convention.

Maponyane appeared in a lead role on South African comedy series The Real Jozi A-Listers in 2015, alongside fellow South African entertainers Da Vinci, Trevor Gumbi, and his best friend Tol-A$$$-Mo.

Maponyane is best known for his role in the South African film Tell Me Sweet Anything, alongside good friend and fellow South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha. On September 4, 2015, the film was released in South African theaters. Despite having earned R1 million in the first five days and having done well, the film was pulled from major South African cinemas about 5 weeks after it was announced by Ster Kinekor.
