Manu Feildel Career

Career

He worked at a number of restaurants before opening the kitchen as head chef at Bilson's on invitation from the restaurant's owner, serving contemporary French cuisine. According to The Sydney Morning Herald, he was a key contributor to Bilson's "three-hat" triumph. According to the Daily Telegraph, it's because of his work at this "extraordinary fine diner" that he is gaining acclaim among foodies.

Feildel first appeared on Ready Steady Cook in 2006 and on MasterChef Australia in 2009, and he has co-hosted My Kitchen Rules since 2010. Feildel descended on Bilson's in 2009 and opened Manu at L'Étoile, his first French bistro. However, the restaurant closed in March 2014 after Feildel cited a "nightmare year" that had affected his company, including his My Kitchen Rules commitments and increased competition that had affected his business, meaning he could no longer afford to stay open.

In the first episode of Beat the Star's short lived Australian version, he was the celebrity contestant.

Feildel was awarded the 2011 Good Food & Wine Show in the 2011 series Dancing with the Stars and then toured the 2011 Good Food & Wine Exhibition. At the Logie Awards of 2011, he was also nominated for the Most Popular New Male Talent category. In 2011, he hosted Dinner Date, the reality dating show on television.

Manu at L'Étoile, Feildel's former chef George Calombaris, opened a new restaurant Le Grand Cirque in Melbourne, which closed four months after opening in August 2014.

Feildel hosted My France with Manu in April 2014, focusing on Feildel's travel through western France, emphasizing the local food, scenery, and memories of France. The show was first shown on the Seven Network.

On the Aunty Donna podcast, where he is portrayed by Zachary Ruane, Manu has appeared as a recurring character. During his time on the show, Manu's appearance has engendered significant questions, including holocaust denial and taking responsibility for the September 11 attacks. Jared Jekkyl, one of the podcast's guests, claims to have met Manu in person while filming My Kitchen Rules in Manu's house. Aside from a brief mention on the Today show in 2019, Manu himself has so far failed to comment on his portrayal by the organization.

Andre Mont Blanc, the French chef, appears in The BBQ, which was released in 2018.

In 2019, he became a judge on the rebooted version of Australia's Got Talent for the Seven Network. Feildel will be joined by veteran MasterChef judges Gary Mehigan and Matt Preston in 2020 on a new cooking competition show called Plate of Origin.
