Mae Margaret Whitman (born June 9, 1988 in Los Angeles) is an American actress and singer.
She appeared in films such as One Fine Day (1996), Independence Day (1996), and Hope Floats (1998), after making her film debut in When a Woman Loves a Woman (1994).
Whitman moved into television, including Ann Veal on the Fox sitcom Arrested Development (2004–2013) and Amber Holt on the NBC drama Parenthood (2010–2015).

Career
At the age of two, she began her career as a voice-over for a Tyson Chicken commercial. As she couldn't read, acting coach Andrew Magarian helped her memorize lines. In 1994, Whitman made her film debut as Shefa Man Loves a Woman (1994), portraying Ryan's youngest daughter, Casey Green. She defeated 700 other girls who were interested in the role. Whitman appeared in two films in 1996: Independence Day, playing Bill Pullman's daughter Patricia Whitmore, and One Fine Day, portraying Maggie Taylor of George Clooney. In the year 2003, Whitman guest appeared in "The One Where Rachel Quits" from season three of Friends. Bernice Pruitt, Sandra Bullock's daughter, appeared in Hope Floats in 1998. Whitman appeared on JAG from 1998 to 2001, as Chloe Madison, a girl from a Catholic family who befriends Hannah (Alia Shawkat), a Jewish teen. She appeared on 17 episodes of Chicago Hope.
