Luna Vachon Life

Gertrude Elizabeth Vachon (January 12, 1962-2010) was an American-Canadian professional wrestler, better known as Luna Vachon.

She competed for titles like the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE), Extreme Championship Wrestling, the American Wrestling Association, and World Championship Wrestling over the course of her 22-year career.

In 2019, she was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class.

Personal life

Charles Wilkerson, a hotel owner and Rebecca "Van" Pierce, Luna's biological father, committed suicide in his Atlanta hotel in 1966. Although she was mourning in the hotel and married her, Paul "Butcher" Vachon, who was staying at the hotel that night, took care of a sick Van. Since the marriage break, he also adopted the four-year-old Luna and began raising her as his daughter. Luna is also the niece of "Mad Dog" Vachon and Vivian Vachon, who were adopted as a result of the adoption. She was also close to André the Giant.

Luna was married three times, first to Dan Hurd (born 1980) and Vincent "Van" (born 1982), who appeared on Fox's reality cooking program Hell's Kitchen, hosted by Gordon Ramsay. After breaking up, she dated Dick Slater for a while before Slater began physically attacking her. She then married Tom Nash, a childhood friend. David Heath, Nash's tag team partner in The Blackhearts, and Vachon married on October 31, 1994, after the Nash and Vachon split. During her marriage, she was stepmother to David's children, Stephen, Jr., and Donavan. Although the two people split in 2006, Heath said they were still best of friends. Lauren, Austin, and Neila were three children. Both Playboy and Hustler had her appearances.

Luna was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. After attending an Athletes International Ministry conference in 2004, she became a born again Christian. Nikita Koloff and her then-husband David Heath were baptized together. She worked as a tow truck operator in Port Richey, Florida, in 2007.

Luna Vachon Career

Career

Gertrude Vachon, a child, wanted to pass on her family's wrestling heritage. She used to compete in wrestling, which culminated in her participation in various World Wide Wrestling Federation tournaments. Her family was against her joining the wrestling industry and threatened to dissuade her, arguing that a wrestler's life at the time was too difficult for a female. André the Giant, a woman who was close and who took her on a trip to Paris in 1974, attempted to deter her. She began training under her aunt Vivian and then The Fabulous Moolah around the age of sixteen.

Gertrude began her career by competing for Moolah's all-women's promotion. She then travelled to Florida and, competing under the ring name Angelle Vachon, became a member of a four-woman wrestling team led by Mad Maxine. While in Florida, she shared her home with wrestlers Scott Levy (later known as Raven) and Denny Brown.

Trudy Herd, a young, soft-spoken reporter who was awarding Kendall Windham an award in 1985, made her debut in Florida Championship Wrestling as a young, soft-spoken journalist. Kevin Sullivan slapped her twice by a melee, causing a melee. The angle had her compelled by Sullivan's surgery, and she ended up with Sullivan's Army of Darkness stable under the new ring name Luna Vachon. She shaved one half of her head, the first step to her signature Mohawk hairstyle, and she sneered frequently as part of her gimmick. Vachon reminisces about certain aspects of this topic.

Luna first wrestled Madusa Miceli in Florida, sparking a long-running battle. Luna was the Daughters of Darkness, a part of Sullivan's Army, beginning in Florida. The pair also provided back-up vocals for Nasty Savage, a thrash metal band. Luna and Lock were among the Continental Wrestling Association's members in early 1987. Luna also traveled to Japan, where her father Butcher Vachon is active as her boss, as well as Puerto Rico, during the next three years. She also competed in David McLane's Powerful Women of Wrestling (POWW) and, as part of POWW's relationship with the American Wrestling Association (AWA), she appeared in SuperClash III, the country's only pay-per-view tournament, competing in a Battle royal.

In the early nineties, she took over The Blackhearts, a masked tag team that was born out of Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling. The team was made up of Tom Nash — a childhood friend of Luna and her then-husband — and David Heath, her future husband, who were identified as "Apocalypse" and "Destruction" respectively. Luna spent time with them in Joel Goodhart's Tri-State Wrestling Federation in Herb Abrams' Universal Wrestling Federation, and then Giant Baba's All-Japan, where the team disbanded up. Luna also worked at Wild Women of Wrestling as a wrestler, commentator, and booker.

When wrestling in Puerto Rico in 1992, she attempted to get David Heath a job with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), triggering the WWF's interest in her. They recruited her but not without some issues. No one knew where she was; even her father was unaware that she was staying in Florida. The WWF had a private investigator investigate her in order to locate her. She was discovered working as a waitress at a restaurant.

Luna's first WWF appearance came in April 1993 at WrestleMania IX, accompanying Intercontinental Champion Shawn Michaels in his match against Tatanka, who was accompanied by Michaels' former valet Sensational Sherri. Luna attacked Sensational Sherri at ringside and later in the first aid zone, where security followed the pair's vicious feud, sparking a vicious feud between the two countries.

At the same time that Luna and Sherri were at odds, Bam Bam Bigelow and Sherri were in a dispute with Sherri. Tatanka hit him, and the two of them feud. Bam Bam (kayfabe) announced that he had fallen in love and presented Luna as his "main squeeze" shortly after. He also called her his "Tick," a term that fans related with her name's chant "Luna-tic." From then, Bam Bam was seen blowing kisses to Luna at the end of matches, and in her honour, she also included the Moonsault, nicknamed Lunasault, in his repertoire. In 1993, a mixed tag team match between the two teams was supposed to be held in SummerSlam, but it was later cancelled due to Luna (legitim) injuries her arm, and then Sherri left the WWF. In lieu of a six-man tag team match, Bigelow and The Headshrinkers fought and lost to Tatanka and The Smokin' Gunns. Bam Bam and Luna performed afoul of some doofey clumsy from Doink the Clown, resulting in a Survivor Series style match pitting Bam Bam Bam and Bastion Booger against four Doinks in 1993 (actually Men on a Mission and The Bushwhackers in clown makeup). Luna was the source of sencion between Bam Bam and his part-time tag team colleague Bastion Booger, who had also fallen in love with her (kayfabe) during this period. In a mixed tag team match on WrestleMania X, Bam Bam Bam and Luna returned their revenge on Doink by defeating the Clown and his midget side-kick Dink.

Luna's old rival Madusa, who had joined the WWF under the name Alundra Blayze, won the Women's Championship when the WWF's women's division was revived. Luna set her sights on the competition and went on a string of matches with Alundra, all ending in victories for Blayze. Since interference in a match backfired, it was during this time. Luna sold Bam Bam's contract to Ted DiBiase, who was starting to build his "Million Dollar Corporation" in the summer. Luna then picked Bull Nakano, a Japanese wrestler, to win the Women's title from Blayze, which she did eventually. Luna, on the other hand, left the WWF shortly after this championship match.

Luna was the first woman to appear in a WWF video game in 1994, despite previous objections. She was also included in WWF Raw.

Luna competed on the independent circuit after leaving the WWF. She entered Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) on Kevin Sullivan's wife Nancy's suggestion (ECW). (Scott Levy): She was introduced as Tommy Dreamer's new valet in his long-running feud with Raven. Luna was referred to as "someone out of your history" in her Florida days, as Luna had been housemate to Levy in her Florida days and both were in the WWF concurrently. Luna would watch ECW as she was growing jealous of the time she spent with Dreamer, Stevie Richards, and even her partner The Vampire Warrior. She had more than a few physical encounters with Richards, one of which was a steel cage match, which she won.

She was ranked #306 in the PWI 500 last year, becoming the second woman to be included in the PWI 500 after Miss Texas.

She appeared in Puerto Rico for the World Wrestling Federation and the American Wrestling Federation, using the name Angel Baby' and the IWA Mid-South.

Luna had a brief match with World Championship Wrestling (WCW), shortly after her rival Madusa. Luna interfered in Madusa's matches against WCW Women's Champion Akira Hokuto, preventing Madusa from winning the title. Luna and Madusa competed in a series of matches, including a match at the 1997 Slamboree. Though Luna dominated the competition, Madusa managed to obtain the pinfall every time.

Luna returned to the WWF in 1997, first as Goldust's boss, assisting him in redefining himself as "The Artist Formerly Known as Goldust." The pair wore a variety of outfits and roles, including a dominatrix, a slave, a "New Year Baby" and his nurse. They first clashed against Vader. Luna's first appearance had her wheeling the supposedly paralyzed Goldust to the ring and then blinding Vader with some "medical fluid." Later, as Goldust, dressed like a Christmas tree, recited poems in the ring, Santa Claus sacked him, and it was declared Vader. Vader defeated Goldust at the 1998 Royal Rumble. The Goldust/Luna team took to imitating other wrestler's gimmicks, many of Goldust's opponents. In a championship match against Owen Hart, the European Champion Triple H and Chyna was defeated by Goldust and Luna at one point. Owen beat Goldust and Commissioner Slaughter, who then gave the honor to Hart, considering that Goldust is a legitimate replacement.

At this moment, Goldust teamed up with Marc Mero, resulting in another feud, as Luna and Mero's vain defiance started to fight outside of the ring. At WrestleMania XIV, the feud came to an end pitting the two couples against each other. Luna returned to Unforgiven to face Sable in an Evening Gown match, winning by stripping her opponent down to her underwear. Luna and Sable's animosity was not entirely kayfabe. When Sable's fame soared, she took a presumptuous approach toward other opponents. Sable refused to learn how to "take bumps," according to Luna, who was warned by WWF officials that damaging her opponent in the ring would jeopardize her employment. Luna was also enraged by the fact that she had been promised the Women's Championship, a goal that had eluded Vachon. Luna was also distraught when she carried Sable in their match, although Sable was universally lauded, but Luna was only consoled by Owen Hart. Nonetheless, Luna referred to the match as a highlight of her career.

Luna had evidently patched up her differences with Sable in August 1998, as the latter, now divorced from Marc Mero, welcomed her as the newest member of the Human Oddities stable. Luna sluggishly attacked Marc Mero's latest Jacqueline, the former Miss Texas. Luna won by pinfall in August but lost in September in a rematch. The masked "Spider Lady" who was later revealed to be Luna, struck Sable, who had just won the revived WWF Women's Championship in December. "It's about me, it's about what I deserve." She defended her heel turn and assault against her partner with the words, "It's about me, not about me." Shane McMahon personally supported Luna's chances to win the championship after taking personal responsibility for Sable's behavior and booking a Leather Strap match at the Royal Rumble. Luna was systematically assaulted by an obsessive Sable fan leading up to the event. Sable retained the title after being influenced by the fan who now plays for WWF as Tori. Luna also defeated Gillberg, a WWF parody of World Championship Wrestling's star Goldberg, in the weeks leading up to the Royal Rumble. Luna had intended to face Sable for another title shot a few weeks later on St. Valentine's Day Massacre, but the match was called off due to Luna's suspension for competing with Sable backstage.

Luna returned to SummerSlam six months after winning the Women's Champion Ivory backstage and battling Tori after a fruitful title defense. Luna also won a pinfall match in an impromptu, non-title match, kicking off a feud between the two teams. However, she lost to Ivory in a Hardcore Rules match at Unforgiven. Luna also answered a challenge from then Intercontinental Champion Jeff Jartt and defeated him by disqualification, owing to Ivory's intervention.

Luna revived her role as a boss for her husband, who now works for the WWF under the name Gangrel, and helped Gangrel defeat their opponents.

She joined forces with Ivory, Jacqueline, and Terri Runnels against Tori, Debra, The Fabulous Moolah, and Mae Young at Survivor Series in 1999. When Luna defeated Ivory Moolah pinned Ivory, Luna's team was defeated. She took part in the Swim Suit Contest in 2000, but she decided against wearing her gown at the end of the evening. Luna's legitimate dissatisfaction with the WWF's women's division's "sexualization" of the conflict showed in this regard. After the latter had pinned Harvey Wippleman to win the Women's title, Vachon was involved in a brief feud with Jacqueline. On the February 7 edition of Raw, she was the first person to challenge Jacqueline, but she was dissatisfied due to a German Suplex. Gangrel, who accompanied her to ringside, responded by executing his Impaler DDT on the champion. On the following episode of SmackDown, Vachon and Gangrel defeated Moore and her partner Prince Albert, which resulted in a mixed tag. She was later dropped from the WWF in early 2000 due to another outburst backstage.

Luna continued to work with Gangrel on her own as well as wrestling on her own after leaving the WWF. In 2000, the IWA Puerto Rico, the Australian World Wrestling All-Stars, the German EWP in 2001, the British ASW in 2006, and WSU in 2007.

When visiting the United Kingdom with WWA in 2001, she was defeated by her husband Gangrel in a Black Wedding Match.

Luna defeated Traci Brooks in the first Great Lakes Championship Wrestling's Ladies champion on June 9, 2007. Luna Vachon announced her resignation on December 5, 2007, and her last match for Great Lakes Championship Wrestling in Milwaukee took place on December 7, 2007. She successfully defended her GLCW Ladies Championship against Traci Brooks and then resigned as champion.
