Luke Johnson Life

Luke Anthony "Jocko" Johnson (born 11 March 1981) is an English rock guitarist, drummer, and songwriter.

He is most commonly known as 'Jocko'.

Johnson began his drumming career in the late 1990s when he was touring with a handful of small West Midlands punk and metal bands.

Amen, a California punk band, invited Johnson to join the ranks in early 2003.

Johnson formed Beat Union as a drummer and songwriter with Dave Warsop, Dean Ashton, and Mark Andrews following his release from Amen in 2005.

From 2009 to their disbanding in 2013, Johnson was a member of the Welsh alternative metal band Lostprophets.

Johnson has appeared on several musical projects, including working with Producer John Feldmann (Good Charlotte, The Used, Kelly Clarkson), as well as session work for a variety of bands, including The Wonder Stuff and Foxy Shazam.

Early life

Johnson was introduced to music at a young age of 2. Les Johnson, a Birmingham promoter for Birmingham bands such as New Order, Killing Joke, and New Model Army, began with his father, Les Johnson, who was a Birmingham promoter for such bands as New Order, Killing Joke, and New Model Army. Johnson, who was five years old at the time, began to accompany his father on tour with the band The Wonder Stuff. Johnson was then given his first pair of drumsticks by Martin Gilks and would often have to soundcheck the drums. "I've been listening to music all my life." On these big stages, I'd go to shows and soundcheck the drums for the Wonder Stuff and see kits for the first time. During soundcheck and hearing the sound of a drumkit through a PA, I thought, 'Man, I really want to do this!' Johnson says, '"I'm a person of faith." Johnson began taking drum lessons at the age of 6.

Beat Union was a pop-punk band from Birmingham, Bromsgrove, and Redditch. They were formerly known as Shortcut to Newark. The group has earned comparisons to Elvis Costello and The Jam, as well as pop punk bands like Green Day. Bedouin Soundclash and Zox performed in the United Kingdom in 2006. Disconnected, the band's debut full-length album, was released on Science Records in April 2008. It was made with John Feldmann, the producer and frontman of Goldfinger, who was aided in making it. On July 17, 2008, Rolling Stone's song "She Has the Gun" was chosen as their Day of the Day. On BBC Radio 1, where the song debuted at No. 1 for the first time, it also gained a following. On the station's airplay charts, 5 ranks are on the station's airplay charts. Following the album's debut, the band toured with Goldfinger and then appeared in the 2008 Warped Tour in the United States. Less Than Jake and Flogging Molly were announced during a North American fall tour.

Johnson was officially announced as the band's new drummer in August 2009 after they had completed recording their fourth studio album The Betrayed, following Ilan Rubin's departure from Lostprophets. Johnson toured with them in January 2010, and they were on tour in the United Kingdom, where they were greeted by Kids in Glass Houses, Hexes, We Are the Ocean, and Sharks. Johnson will continue to perform on the band's fifth and final album, Weapons, which was released in 2012. After singer Ian Watkins was charged with numerous child sex offenses and then banned for 29 years, the band split in October 2013.

Johnson is currently writing for various artists while also working on his own solo album. After Watkins' detention, he was also the drummer and founding member of the new rock band formed by former Lostprophets supporters No Devotion.

He left No Devotion in late 2014, feeling he would be unable to fulfill full commitments to the band until January 2015, when the other members hoped he would change his mind. Former Kids in Glass Houses drummer Phillip Jenkins was named as the touring drummer by the company's former tour drummer.

Johnson released three singles on SoundCloud, titled 'Say Something, 'The Beat of my Heart,' and 'Ignorance.'

Luke and Lee Villain, now known as Stitch D of The Defiled, formed Lowlives in Los Angeles in 2016. Lowlives released their first EP Burn Forever in August 2018; they also supported The Used in the United Kingdom in the same month.
