Luke Howell Career

Career

He began attending Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys and signed a two-year scholarship contract with Gillingham, which began in 2003. He missed out on a substitute appearance in a friendly against Thamesmead Town after being stung by a wasp as he extracted the ball from a tree on August 3rd. His scholarship was extended into a third year in 2005, and he joined Welling United on a one-month loan contract on November 22, 2005.

He signed his first professional deal in May 2006, committing to a one-year contract with the club. In Ian Cox's 1–0 home loss to Nottingham Forest on October 14, 2006, he made his debut as a second-half replacement, giving him his first appearance in the Football League Trophy's first leg home loss to Nottingham Forest. On November 3, 2006, it was revealed that he had joined Folkestone Invicta on a month's loan. In May 2007, Gillingham released him.

He signed with Milton Keynes Dons on a one-year contract, just two days after the 2007-08 season began. MK Dons defeated Ipswich Town on penalties two days after signing for the club. Howell made his debut for the club in a League Cup match. In a 2–1 victory over Mansfield Town two months after signing for the club, Howell made his league debut for the club. Howell told Milton Keynes Citizen that his team was wrong, and that the opposition team was promoted to League One for the first time in the season.

Howell's season begins next year after he suffered with injuries and continued to be in and out of the first team's starting lineup, only in the second half. In the 1–0 win over MK Dons in the season's final game, the guy scored his first goal for the team against Hereford United. He also played twice in the 2009 League One Playoff semi-finals against Scunthorpe United, where he was forced to leave early in the second leg due to concussion and was replaced by Alan Navarro in the 17th minute. MK Dons will lose 7–6 on penalties after playing 120 minutes, while Scunthorpe United won the play-offs and promoted to the Championship after winning the second leg of League One Playoff Semi-finals. Howell also signed a new deal with the club at the end of the season.

Howells playing time increased under Paul Ince and then Karl Robinson in the 2009–10 season, where he made 35 appearances.

He played for the club for two months before taking part in an open training session, but it was under the direction of Steve Tilson and Paul Brush at Lincoln City. Since struggling to break into the MK Dons first squad, he has since signed a one-month loan with the Imps. In a 2–2 draw against Wycombe Wanderers, he made his debut in his debut. He suffered a horrific tackle from Scott Brown, which ended his loan period at Lincoln City. Rather, he was out for four weeks. Howell, a week later, pushed his loan term until the New Year.

He made eight appearances and had his deal with MK Dons ended by mutual agreement on January 28th, 2011; he then joined Lincoln until the end of the season. In a 1–0 victory over Port Vale, Howell played in Howell's first game after signing for the club on a permanent basis. Several weeks later, Howell scored his first goal in a 4–2 loss against Barnet. However, a week after scoring his first goal, he was out for four weeks against Port Vale after falling awkwardly. Howell's injury is not worrying, according to manager Tilson, who says he isn't worried about his health. Howell, who is recuperating from an injury, says the team was afraid of relegation.

Following relegation from the Football League, he was one of only three squad players to be given a new deal in May 2011. Despite the club's interest from clubs in League One and Two, he decided against excluding himself from his discussions to remain at Lincoln City.

Howell and Redbridge announced their signing on August 1st, 2011. Howell pleaded with Dagenham & Redbridge before going on trial, claiming he enjoyed his time in the pre-season friendly. In a 1–0 victory over Macclesfield Town in his debut on the season's first game, he made his debut. Howell soon suffered a knee injury against Hereford United, which kept him out for a long time. Howell recovered from injury in a 1–0 loss to Northampton Town in March 2012 and revealed he spent 12 weeks in leg brace. The club started losing, which put the club into the relegation zone during his time on the sidelines.

His season changed drastically in the coming season, with nine goals, including a brace against Rotherham United. Howell signed a new deal with the club in January 2013, which will keep him until 2015.

Howell had begun training with Leyton Orient, a former Dagenham and Redbridge manager. With just one pre-season appearance against Braintree Town in early July, the trial spell came to an end.

Howell was proclaimed a Boreham Wood player on July 15th. He is the third of the club's high-rated former Chelsea youthster Billy Clifford and Charlie Macdonald, a veteran football League striker, to be a member.

He re-signed for Dagenham & Redbridge after their relegation to the National League in May 2016, teaming up with former boss John Still in May 2016. Due to the end of the season, on May 25, 2018, it was reported that he would leave the club at the end of the season.

Following his release from Dagenham, Howell decided to join Aldershot Town in July 2018.

Howell has opted to join Hemel Hempstead Town F.C., a National League South team. On June 12, 2019.

On October 15, 2019, Howell signed for St Ives Town, a Southern League Central Division Central team.
