Lucie Désirée Arnaz (born July 17, 1951) is an American actor, singer, and producer.

Early life

Arnaz was born in Los Angeles, California, and the niece of actor Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, and her sister attended St. Vincent Ferrer School, alongside her brother, and the Roman Catholic Immaculate Heart High School.

Personal life

Arnaz was married to Philip Vandervort Menegaux from July 17, 1971 to April 1976. Laurence Luckinbill, an actor, married her on June 22nd, 1980. Luckinbill and Arnaz are residents of Palm Springs, California.

Simon, Joseph, and Katharine Luckinbill are three children of Arnaz and Luckinbill. Luckinbill also has two sons from his previous marriage: Nicholas and Benjamin Luckinbill.

Arnaz attended an all-girls Catholic high school, mainly for the drama program. She is a member of Unity.

Career

Arnaz made her acting debut in the series Here's Lucy from 1968 to 1974, having appeared on her mother's television series The Lucy Show. Kim Carter, the daughter of the eponymous Lucy, was played by Arnaz's real-life mother, Lucille Ball.

Arnaz began acting outside of her family's from the mid-1970s. Elizabeth Short appeared in "Who Is the Black Dahlia?" on NBC in 1975, and she appeared alongside Lyle Waggoner and Tommy Tune in "The Amazing World of Disney" commemorating the grand opening of Space Mountain at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. In 1978, she appeared in a Fantasy Island episode as a woman struggling to save her marriage. She has appeared in a number of popular television shows over the years, including Murder, She Wrote, Marcus Welby, M.D., Sons and Daughters (CBS, 1991), and Law & Order.

Arnaz also had The Lucie Arnaz Show on CBS in 1985, a short-lived series of her own. "The always ingratiating Miss Arnaz as a psychologist who not only writes an instruction column but also takes calls from listeners on her own radio station," the New York Times' reviewer put it.

This one, a late-night talk show, aired on one season from 1995 to 1996. It was unsuccessful, but the Rosie O'Donnell Show would return to much greater success a year later, prompting Arnaz's agent to pitch a revival that would not be picked up.

In 1993, Arnaz received the Emmy Award for her documentary about her parents, Lucy and Desiree: A Home Movie.

Arnaz has worked in musical theatre for a long time. Annie Get Your Gun at the Jones Beach Theatre in Long Island, New York, in June 1978. This was the first performance at Jones Beach Theatre after Guy Lombardo's death. She was the leading female role in Educating Rita at The Cape Playhouse in Dennis, Massachusetts, in 1981.

She made her Broadway debut in The musical They're Playing Our Song in February 1979. For her portrayal of Sonia Walsk, Arnaz received both the Theatre World Award and the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Actress in a Musical. She received the Sarah Siddon Award in 1986 for her tour with Tommy Tune in the international company of My One and Only.

Berthe, the title character's grandmother, appeared in Pippin in 2014. From October 9, 2014 to November 9, 2014, she appeared on Broadway in Pippin.

Arnaz appeared on film, including The Jazz Singer (1980), in which she co-starred with Neil Diamond and Laurence Olivier. She was nominated for the 1981 Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture. She appeared in the 1982 comedy film One More Try opposite her future husband, Lawrence Luckinbill.
