Lucero Career

Early life and career

Lucero is the granddaughter of Lucero León and Antonio Hogaza.

In 1980, she began her career. She was worried about being an artist as a child, but Televisa gave her the opportunity to appear in Alegr De Medioda (Midday Happiness), next to several children and young talents in music and comedy, such as Aida Pierce and Aleks Syntek.

She combined work with academic studies while still attending singing and dancing lessons. At the time, she appeared in the program Juguemos a Cantar (Let's play to sing), in which she was also the interpreter of the theme. Following these experiences, she received multiple offers in various fields, including Chiquilladas (Childishness), making her first starring role in the series for children, where Olive Oyl appeared in a Popeye skit.

She appeared in Chispita ("Little Spark"), her first television comedy, alternating with great actors such as Enrique Lizalde, Angélica Aragón, and others. Her acting has received 2 accolades, including her first televisionyNovelas Award and the Azteca de Oro Award. From that point, her career was seen as promising, but, strangely enough, she did not record the theme tune for this telenovela, even though she was introduced as a singer. Rather, the task was delegated to Timbiriche, Mexico's most popular youth group. This is how Rael Velasco asked her to conduct and interpret the main theme of the musical pageant América, Esta Es Tu Canción. Te Prosecu is a Japanese musician who released her first album in 1982 (I promise you).

She was approached in 1985 to appear in her third film Fiebre de Amor (Eng: Love Fever), as well as Luis Miguel, one of the decade's most in-demand male singer. This combination was a huge hit with the audience, and the film received two Diosa de la Plata Awards, including Breakthrough Performance for Lucerito.

She appeared on two songs on the soundtrack, and the film's successful launch culminated in a special edition for Italy. Lucerito's mother, Lucerito, left her mentor from the first two albums, Sergio Andrade, in this year, as rumors began to develop that he had fallen in love with her. To avoid problems, the music company decided to release another album, but this time without Sergio Andrade's help. Rather, she was provided with a variety of designers and composers, including Joan Sebastian and Jaime Sánchez Rosaldo.

Un Pedacito De M (Eng: A little piece of me), her fourth and last album with Musart Records, 1986. She joined Melody Records in order to get away from Sergio Andrade's shadow. Musart did not promote this album, which resulted in lower sales than her previous albums due to the singer's departure to another company. Era la primera vez (Eng: It was the first time) was a hit in Mexican charts, debuting in the top ten and top 20 in Billboard. In 1986, she appeared in her first theatre role, in the play Don Juan Tenorio, as Doa Inés de Ulloa.

She debuted herself as one of Latin America and the United States' best singers at the end of the decade. She continued to climb in her career, debuting her sixth studio album, Cuéntame. In Mexico, the album's sales have hit gold and platinum status. This album launched in the United States, Spain, as well as in Central America's countries like Guatemala, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, and many South America. Lucero made a new facet in her career with ranchero renditions of the hits of the famous band Los Bukis, as well as her album Con Mi Sentimiento, which was produced by Rubén Fuentes.
