She married French entrepreneur and aristocrat Count Alexandre de Lesseps in 1993, but she retained the honor code "countess" until her remarriage in 2016.

LuAnn Nadeau was born in Berlin, Connecticut, where she grew up with her six siblings and father owned a building business. She has stated that her father is of Algonquin and French descent, and that her mother is a French Canadian. De Lesseps revealed that she captained her high school's varsity softball team in a first episode of Real Housewives.
