Early life

Lu Han was born in Haidian, Beijing, on April 20, 1990. He graduated from Beijing's Shida Middle School and attended Beijing's Foreign Language Shi Yan School before heading to South Korea to Yonsei University as an exchange student. At the Seoul Institute of the Arts, he concentrated on Applied Music.

Lu Han unsuccessfully auditioned for JYP Entertainment at their international audition in China in 2008. He was scouted while in Myeong-dong by an SM Entertainment rep who encouraged him to audition for the company, and after that he became a trainee under the agency.

Personal life

Luhan is engaged with Chinese actress Guan Xiaotong, according to the publication on October 8, 2017.

Music career

Luhan, along with Tao, Chen, and Kai, made his first televised appearance at the SBS Gayo Daejeon on December 29, 2011. Following this appearance, he became Exo's second member and was the second member of the Chinese group and its Mandarin-language sub-group Exo-M.

Luhan filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment on October 10, 2014, essentially leaving Exo and Exo.

Luhan contributed to the soundtracks of movies in which he appeared. "Our Tomorrow" was his theme tune for 20 years. The song's music video surpassed 1 million views in 47 minutes, setting a new record. "Tian mi mi" was later released in a film adaptation titled "Comrades: Almost a Love Story." Luhan is said to have asked him to participate due to his gentle and vocal voice as he felt it would be more effective in expressing the emotion of the song.

Luhan's debut in July 2015, where he will work with well-known producer Djemba Djemba. This is also Djemba's first album for an Asian artist. He collaborated with David Tao in a bidding song for the 2022 Winter Olympics held in Beijing the same month.

Via QQ Music charts, Luhan's first digital album Reloaded I was released on September 10, 2015. On the first day of official launch, it sold 880,000 copies, the first time on record. Reloaded's first album in mainland China to do so was sold over 3 million copies and was also certified platinum by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, becoming the first album in mainland China to do so.

Luhan appeared at the QQ Music Awards, winning both the Best Digital Album of the Year and Best Male Singer of the Year. "Luhan Reloaded: The 2016 Luhan 1st China Tour" was his first solo concert tour before he embarked on his first solo concert tour. On March 26, Guangzhou, and Shanghai on April 9, the tour began, and on April 9, Beijing. Luhan made his film debut in the Chinese remake of the Korean hit film Miss Granny, 20 Once Again, on Wednesday. It dominated box office charts and broke records to become the highest-grossing Korean-Chinese co-produced film. He received the "Newcomer of the Year" award at the Beijing International Film Festival, as well as the "Most Popular Actor" award at the Beijing College Student Film Festival for his role. He appeared on Hurry Up, Brother, a spin-off from the original South Korean variety show Running Man, this year. In The Witness, a 2011 Korean film Blind, Luhan starred opposite Yang Mi.

He appeared in Time Raiders, a fantasy-action adventure film based on the online novel series Tomb Raiders, in 2016. The film premiered on August 5 and topped box office charts, becoming the biggest summer success of 2016. He appeared in The Great Wall, a historical epic directed by Zhang Yimou.

Luhan appeared in his first television drama Fighter of the Destiny, a fantasy wuxia series based on the novel of the same name. He appeared alongside Guan Xiaotong in the youth sports drama Sweet Combat in June. Luhan was cast in the forthcoming science fiction film Shanghai Fortress alongside Shu Qi in September. The film is based on the 2006 book Once Upon a Time in Shanghai and was released in 2019.
