Lindiwe Nonceba Sisulu (born 10 May 1954) is a South African politician, member of parliament since 1994, and member of the African National Congress's National Executive Committee.
She served as Minister of Housing (2004 to 2009), Minister of Defense and Military Veterans (2009-2012), and Minister of Public Service and Administration from 2012 to 2014.
Early life
Sisulu was born in Johannesburg to revolutionary figures Walter and Albertina Sisulu. She is the niece of journalist Zwelakhe Sisulu and politician Max Sisulu.
Sisulu was arrested between 1975 and 1976 for her anti-apartheid activities. Umkhonto we Sizwe, a specialization in intelligence, was a member of the ANC from 1977 to 1979.
Education
Lindiwe Sisulu graduated from Waterford Kamhlaba United World College of Southern Africa in Mbabane, Swaziland, in 1973. Sisulu earned a BA degree and Diploma in Education in 1980 and 1981, and the University of Swaziland awarded a BA Hons in History. She earned a Master of History and an MPhil from the University of York in 1989.
Early career
Sisulu began teaching at the Manzini Teachers Training College in the mid-1980s. She became the ANC's intelligence chief assistant in 1990. "The Times of Swaziland," Mbabane, Swaziland (1983).
