Linda Dano (born May 12, 1943) is an American actress, writer, and businesswoman.

She is best known for her appearances in daytime drama, particularly Gretel Rae Cummings on One Life to Live and Felicia Gallant on Another World.

Dano also co-hosted Attitudes on Lifetime and has operated a long-running clothing and home furnishings business with QVC, first partnering with the home shopping channel in 1993.

Personal life

Dano was born Linda Rae Wildermuth in Long Beach, California, to Evelyn (Delgado) and Ted Wildermuth. Dano was married to actor Frank Attardi for more than 20 years before his death in 2004. She has two stepchildren, three stepgrandchildren, a niece, and a nephew.

Dano appeared on television shows including Ironside, Police Woman, Harry O. Petrocelli, The Rockford Files, Charlie's Angels, and CHiPS, as well as Emergency!, Barney Miller, and The Six Million Dollar Man in two separate roles. Dano was cast in the short-lived 1975 NBC comedy series The Montefuscos, which was cancelled after three episodes were shown and eventually ran for seven. She appeared in The Last Survivors (1975), The Nurse Killer (1975), The Night That Panicked America (1975), and The Shadow of Chikara (1977).

Dano, who appeared on stage with such actors as Tom Selleck, joined ABC soap opera One Life to Live in the role of Gretel Cummings from 1978 to 1980. Cynthia Haines appeared on As the World Turns from 1981 to 1982.

Felicia Gallant, a romance novelist on Another World from 1982 to 1999, her appearance winning the Daytime Emmy Award for Lead Actress in 1993. She was also nominated for Leading Actor Emmys in 1994 and 1996, as well as for Supporting Actress in 1992.

Dano returned to One Life to Live as Gretel on June 28, 1999, and she now refers to herself as "Rae" Cummings. In a crossover storyline, the character appeared on three other ABC soap operas at the time — All My Children, Statistical Hospital, and Port Charles — for the first time a daytime character appeared on four series. Dano was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Supporting Actress in 2003, and One Life to Live was born on March 13, 2004. Dano appeared on CBS's Guiding Light briefly in 2005. Dano was impersonated by Nora Dunn on NBC's Saturday Night Live in the late 1980s. On NBC's Days of Our Lives, Dano briefly played Vivian Alamain in early 2021.

In 2000, Lifetime Television dedicated an episode of its Intimate Portrait celebrity biography series to Dano. She co-hosted Attitudes, a Lifetime talk show, from 1987 to 1992, and has been a guest and host on The View. On SOAPnet in 2003, Dano hosted a Another World reunion special, in which she was later nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Special Class Special.

Dano has been writing style and fashion columns for Soap Opera Digest for years, as well as her own product lines on QVC, with Dano commemorating her 20th anniversary of being affiliated with the home shopping network in February 2013. She was named a Bronze Award in 1999 for her contributions to customer knowledge.

Dano has appeared on television shows including Homicide: Life on the Street (1997), Desperate Housewives (2005), and What I Like About You (2006), as well as the 2007 film Reservation Road. She appeared as the title character in Mame at the Bucks County Playhouse in 2005.

Dano appeared in A Little Daytime Drama, a Hallmark film project in 2021.
