Lim Teong Kim (born 26 August 1963 in Malacca) is a retired Malaysian football player and formerly an assistant coach of Bayern Munich U19 Team.
Career
The former midfielder, who is best known for his ruthless streak, began his career with Malacca in 1983 before transferring to Kuala Lumpur from 1984-1986.
When he signed for German club Hertha BSC in 1987, he became the first Malaysian footballer to play in Europe. He only played in Germany for a single season before returning to Malaysia.
Lim returned from Germany and competed for Kuala Lumpur, winning the Malaysia Cup winner's medal for the third time since 1987-1989.
Lim had a short trial with Grazer AK in 1990, during the Berlin stay. In 1993-1994, he was out of place as a player with Kedah FA.
He won the 1989 Southeast Asian Games gold medal with the Malaysia national team. In the 3–1 victory over Singapore in the final, he scored his second goal. Overall, Lim earns 60 international caps and scored 12 international goals for Malaysia.
Lim began his coaching career with Bayern Munich's Junior Team in 2001 until 2011.
He returned to Malaysia in August 2013 after five-years with the Sports Ministry as the Project Director of National Football Development Programme (NFDP). He was named as the Director of Mokhtar Dahar Academy (AMD) in a deal that was supposed to last until 2020. Lim Lim was given a RM175,000 monthly salary package with tax exemption as the director of AMD, according to Syed Saddiq, the Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia. Following the Malaysian B-16 squad's failure to qualify for the U-17 World Cup in Peru 2019, FAM held Lim accountable and had taken drastic action by ending Teong Kim's service as coach with immediate effect.
Lim was appointed head coach of Perak, Malaysia's second division, the Malaysian Premier League at the time, on September 13, 2022.
